3DS Discussion Thread

Yeah, I think Nintendo forces the limit (30 max.), since nobody would be concerned that "you get 'too much enjoyment for free' of baking a pizza 30 (or more, if you do it without closing the demo) times with mama". Like seriously? Nobody will launch that demo even 10 times, so the limit doesn't matter. :p But I find it annoying that there is a counter on the upper screen, makes me want to keep the demos untouched. But I heard there is a demo in Japan that can be launched THREE times and that really sucks (I think there was a time limit too). What's the point? It's not like it's the full version of the game.

Keima Katsuragi would go nuts if they released that game for the PFP! :p

But in all seriousness, I know that it's highly unlikley but if they released that game in the USA, I would buy it, I like to try all genres of games atleast once but I never really could try dating sims due to my total lack of knowaldge of the Japanese language.

If that came to Europe (what I really, really doubt) I would get it too because it sounds so odd and I want to try it too. :p

Funny story time that only certain people will find funny

So I went to Target last night to get a copy of Super Mario 3D Land. And the person who rung me up. His name was. Luigi :3

Anyways, Super Mario 3D Land is a great game. The use of 3D is just stunning, especially with the whole "binoculars" thing, that looks just awesome. It is quite easy though. I bought it last night, and I'm up to the middle of World 4 already, although I probably will go back and try and get all the Star Coins (I think that's what they're called).

They're called star medals in this game. I guess its to emphasize the portable factor although I don't think it's a big deal. They're essentially the same thing,

Umm, what? :B They are Star Coins in New Super Mario Bros. DS.

I got a Mii yesterday over 3DS that, instead of saying, "You've got company!" in my notifications, said, "¡Nueva incorporación!" Ihaven't checked it out yet, since the moment they enter the 3DS StreetPass Plaza, I have to put them in Puzzle Swap and/or Find Mii in that same session or I won't be able to use them unless I meet them again.

The one game I have for it is Mario Kart 7, and personally, it's amazing. I didn't like Double Dash!! so much because they attempted to make the physics more realistic, but that only made everything feel heavier and clunkier for me. It's my least favorite Mario Kart game. The items here are nicely balanced for Mario Kart 7, and aside from the Lakitu-based glitches (there is another one in Wuhu Loop, by the way), it's pretty much perfect as it is.

So I just finished playing the Mario & Sonic demo. It was pretty fun. I've never played any of the previous games before so I didn't know exactly what to expect. That soccer game gave me so much trouble since I couldn't kick it properly. Ended up failing all my shots on that one. Then the final race I didn't know how to land properly so I lost there too. If this becomes a $20 game then I'd consider picking it up. But if not, no biggy, I'm pretty sure once I master all the games they have there there won't be much replay value left for me. I'm sure if I were a Sonic fan it would probably be an instant buy considering it's got two major icons in the game.

I played/bought the first Mario and Sonic on the DS....not worth it at all. There not good at all. The swimming was horrid, the fencing was kind of fun, the running was annoying, long jump was just as bad, the only thing that game was good for was the Dream Flying (Was it flying? I can't remember....I don't want to remember). I will never get one of those games again...waste....WASTE

I just found Star Fox 64 3D in a closet. I opened it and played it. But then I found out that was for my birthday... :p

It's a really good game. I'm already on to Venom. :)

The last game I need for right now....Want.....Starfox....

On another note. Anyone know of a good outer case for the 3DS? My cousin got a beach cruiser and while I was on it my 3DS came out and I ran it over....it now has a giant scuff across the front of it that is unfix-able :/ so to prevent further damage....I have been looking for a good case and I can only find like Nerf ones and those are dumb....so....ya....herple derple

My sister's been looking for 3DS cases; there has yet to be any play-through cases (as in the ones that can open with the 3DS and that you can play while it's still in the case) that aren't hard plastic, which isn't exactly the best shock-absorbing material on its own.

By the way, as the Mario & Sonic Olympic Games have been coming out, they've become increasingly oriented towards the Dream events. Even the regular events have some weird twist to them. At this point, Mario & Sonic London 2012 feels more like a Mario Party (without the boards) than a strictly sports title. It'd still get repetitive quickly if you're going to play it solo though.

So I know a few pages back it was discussed how 30 demo trials is more than enough and there's no need for complaining. Turns out maybe there is a need for complaining? Yesterday my 9 year old cousin came to visit and since he doesn't have wireless internet he used mine to download the two demos. He had a lot of fun with the Mario game and after playing it, he moved on to do some stop motions and what not. Later, his sisters wanted to try playing the game too so they did it and then they too closed it and decided to play some mario kart instead after finishing. Then my cousin went to visit my other cousins and well you know the deal at this point. Today was a day off at school for him. I'm sure he's going to be out of demo trials before the end of this week.

Soo...should there or should there not be unlimited uses for the demo? If they did give unlimited uses then people like my young cousins would abuse it and play it forever over and over. Nintendo wouldn't make any money like that. I guess what they want is the kids to want to play more therefore asking their parents to buy the game once it comes out? I guess that works, won't work for my cousins but yea for others I guess it would.

Personally I would prefer unlimited uses. Looking at that "uses remaining" counter bothers me since it makes me not want to touch the game at all so it can stay at that number.

I say keep the limit, it's 30 right? I haven't downloaded anything since I don't have wireless at my house :/. BUT keep the counter. You would most likely be bored of it before you hit that limit. Ya there is more of an argument if you say "Make it unlimited" but that will never happen.

So yesterday, I got Skylanders 3DS for my birthday gift. And I already had Skylanders Wii. :D

I'm really lucky.

I don't like Skylanders. It's a Spyro game, which is good, but it has like 40 characters, Spyro being only 1 of them! Plus, you have to pay extra money just to play through the game.

I really wish for 3 games in particular for the 3DS:
1. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
2. Super Mario 3D Land
3. Resident Evil Revelations or Resident Evil: The Mercenaries

Doubt it, 'cause I can't afford really any of these games, and my gramma says 3D is "bad" for your eyes. She should be happy enough that I'm not epillectic (whatever it's called that makes you have seizures), but instead I get no 3D games. ):

Just passing by to clear up some misconceptions.

Well, not quite. I suppose it is considered a spin-off by most people, but it seems more like it's a proper franchise of its own, or at least in the process of becoming one.
I think it's comparable to the Raving Rabbids games, which started out as Rayman spin-offs but quickly became a seperate franchise.
but it has like 40 characters, Spyro being only 1 of them!
Variety is usually not a bad thing. I mean, what's so bad about having 37 awesome playable characters so that everyone can play as a character they like?
(Also, Spyro's not the only character from the Spyro games that is in Skylanders.)
Plus, you have to pay extra money just to play through the game.
Nope. You can complete the game (and even get all the Achievements - if you're a 360/PS3 player) without buying any more characters. You don't even have to use all of the characters that come with the game - you just need two (in the 3DS version - one in the other versions).
