5th Gen Competitive Movesets and Metagame

Cresselia is BL ._. It seems like a pretty good set but I'd run Psycho Shift over CM just for trollin

Cresselia was BL in 4th Gen.

In 5th Gen, poor Cresselia got demoted to RU (the land between UU and NU).

Here's my Jellicent moveset:
Jellicent @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
Bold Nature
EVs: 248 HP, 204 Def, 44 SpD, 8 Spe
-Surf
-Will-o-Wisp
-Recover
-Taunt

The only difference between this Jellicent and the standard Jellicent is that this one trades in 2 points of Defense for two points of speed. This is huge in that it prevents opposing Jellicent from Will-o-Wisping mine, because I can taunt them, and beat them to the punch. I can then burn them, and then stall their demise with Recover and more taunting. Using this set-up, I've actually gotten multiple kills, because they can't stop Jellicent. The only problem is Wisp's 75% accuracy, as it really can screw you over if it misses...multiple...times.

Really? Aww she's in UU's UU :(

Here's my Jellicent moveset:

-Surf
-Will-o-Wisp
-Recover

-snip-

The only thing with this set I see is trading Surf for Scald and WoW for Toxic.

Well, that Jellicent spread looks interesting to say to the least. Seems like it would work well as a mixed wall.

Also, that Klinklang doesn't have any other sweeping moves, TT. Volt Switch is it's only option that benefits it and doesn't give a second Steel-or-Normal move to Klinklang, as it can't learn any other types. It's also for switching out of bad match-ups, and for non-VGC, Magnet Pull Magnezones.

The team I made had Tailwind+Special Tornadus as the lead, a Jellicent similar to Bippa's as a wall, an Acrobatics Mienshao w/ Fake Out, and a Scarf Chandelure in addition to Haxorus and Klinklang. Do those type comboes work out well with covering each other?

No. If it is a sweeper you don't use scouting moves. Try Return if you can't find any other physical moves.

Does anybody know a good moveset for mew i know he is banned but i am currently training him and i want him to be very powerful

Option 1: Baton Pass
Mew @ Leftovers
Bold Nature
EVs: 252 HP / 184 SDef / 44 Spe / 28 Def
-Taunt
-Rock Polish
-Nasty Plot / Swords Dance
-Baton Pass

This Mew aims to create a powerful sweeper that can't be stopped. Rock Polish will double the recipients Speed. By ensuring the Pokemon you are passing to has 292 Speed or higher, it can move before any Pokemon not named Choice Scarf Mewtwo or Deoxys, which are rarely scarfed anyway. Nasty Plot will double the Special Attack while Swords Dance doubles physical attack. You must choose which to use depending on what Pokemon you intent to pass to. Taunt is helpful because sometimes the opponent will try and use Roar / Whirlwind or inflict a status condition. This also prevents the opposing Pokemon from setting up. The Speed EVs allow it to outpace a Choice Scarf Palkia after Rock Polish which is a common revenge killer. 252 HP is there to ensure you get the most HP to absorb hits. More emphasis is placed in Special Defense because Special Attacks are more common in Ubers than physical ones.

Option 2: Special Sweeper
Mew @ Leftovers
Timid Nature
EVs: 252 Spe / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
-Nasty Plot
-Psyshock
-Aura Sphere
-Ice Beam

This set first uses Nasty Plot to double its Special Attack. Psyshock uses the opponent's Defense to calculate damage allowing it to beat Blissey and Chansey fairly easily. Aura Sphere hits many Pokemon for double damage, most notably Dialga. Ice Beam is great against the numerous dragons you will face and against Lugia as well.

thanks i dont know which one to use though they both seem very good but am ssure i will decide eventually

Only reason Mew is Ubers is because it's niche is that it can learn every move in the game. Other then that it doesn't have too much else.

In generation 5 I don't think he is Uber. I built the set for Ubers though.

@adan, that's a really poor reason to think something is Ubers. Currently, there are more non-ubers legendaries than Uber legendaries.
@TT, not all moves, all TMs, this makes him a great baton passer, but not ban-worthy, IMO.

He's UU this generation if you go by Smogon's fifth generation tiers, although he might get banned to BL just for having the name Mew (sometimes stupid people become suspect voters). He's not getting a lot of usage in UU and there's a good reason why; he's easily outclassed. Nasty Plot versions are outclassed by Azelf. Baton Pass versions are still viable, but I really like Espeon more because it's faster, has a better ability to help BP teams, and can attack back. SD versions are outclassed by overall better physical attackers, like Staraptor, Victini, and Cobalion. Support versions are outclassed by Deoxys-D. Really the only thing under Mew's belt is the suprise factor. Once you know the set, it's easy to counter.

There is, however, one set that Mew can pull off and is not outclassed in. It's called TauntWoW. It's one of the best stallbreakers in UU in my opinion.

Mew
Nature: Timid
Item: Leftovers
EVs: 240 HP / 16 Defense / 252 Speed
Taunt
Will-o-Wisp / Toxic
Super Fang
Roost

Got a little Deoxys-S set I'd like you guys to take a look at:

/
choicescarf.png

Derezzed
Deoxys-S@Choice Scarf
Careful nature
EV's: 252 HP / 128 Atk / 96 SpD / 32 Spe
Moves:
Spikes/Stealth Rock
Ice Punch/Thunder Punch
Super Power
Trick

I thought this would make a GREAT Anti-Lead with all of today's metagame Tyranitar and Politoed leads. Trick ruins a LOT of sets, and even those pesky Ninjask Baton Pass leads (Curse you TPO3!) Most other times you can Spike/SR like crazy and switch into whatever the situation calls for. I'd appreciate any comments.

Actually, with 252 EVs in Attack, Deoxys can do 96% - 113.9% to 252 HP / 0 Def Tyranitar. You would need to run a positive nature in Attack to beat it all the time. Still, a positive nature in speed is a must.

Why the specific EV spread? Is there any reason why it needs 32 Speed? Do you survive certain threats with the defensive spread? I think a spread of 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe would be better, although you could place the EVs in Speed in Attack to beat Tyranitar, but a Choice Scarf will cripple it unless it's ScarfTar to begin with, lol.

Why have Ice Punch or Thunder Punch as an option? I think Toxic Spikes should be used over them, ExtremeSpeed to pick off weakened Pokemon, or Recover if you plan to lay down Spikes later.

I like the EV spread because it takes care of many threats Deoxys faces, especially Taunt (Thundurus and Gliscor specifically). But I'll try the set you suggested, TDL, for lulz sake. The moveset I listed really works well with the team I'm working on, since there are other entry hazards on the team. I'll list some defensive/offensive threats whe I post the RMT, so I can explain the EV's. ^_^
I just think it works so well against the types of teams that annoy me. But I digress. Here's another (similar to TDL's) suggested set:

Deoxys-S@Leftovers
Jolly Nature
EV's: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Moves:
Spikes/Stealth Rock
Toxic Spikes
ExtremeSpeed
SuperPower/Recover?

Thanks for the comments!

I saw a Deoxys S that was arther gimmicky, but was a great suicide lead:

Deoxys-S @ Leftovers
Bold Nature
Pressure
252 HP/200 Def/56 Sp Def

- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Reflect
- Magic Coat

Again, still pretty gimmicky. I believ with this spread and reflect up, Deoxys is 3HKO'd by Payback on Conkeldurr. Reflect is to boost Deoxys' Defence, Magic Coat reflects status, and then entry hazards. I Personally don't use it, but it seems to be effective as a suicide lead and an anti lead at the same time.
