RE: The Competitive Battling Questions Thread

How many attack EV's does Deoxys-S need to OHKO Blissey with Superpower (Assuming Blissey runs 252 HP/252 Def Bold)?

RE: The Competitive Battling Questions Thread

If Deoxys-S was Adamant with 252 Attack EVs and had a Life Orb, it would still only do 76.2% - 89.9% damage on a Blissey like that. (assuming my calculations are correct.)

RE: The Competitive Battling Questions Thread

I don't know why I'm asking, just something I should know to see if I'm trading for hacked competitively playable Pokemon, but what Natures can a Pokemon be and still have 31 IVs in each stat? I was thinking that Salamence needed that if I wanted to use it effectively.

RE: The Competitive Battling Questions Thread

You can have any nature you want along with flawless IVs, with the exception of a few legendaries that have this weird predetermined thing with Natures and IVs. But for a Salamence, it can have straight 31s and still any nature you want.

RE: The Competitive Battling Questions Thread

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get a Shuckle from Lv.1 to Lv.100 in Black and White? It's offensive power isn't that high, and to try and do so much as EV train one is hard.I could use Power Trick, but it's Defense would be worse than Deoxys-A's.To have the lead pokemon hold the Lucky Egg while Shuckle holds the Exp. Share for that long is plain insane.

You could quickly level it up by sticking it in the daycare, going to the subway station, standing in the middle of te loop, and taping down the up button. Leave it for a while and it will level up a bunch. For EVing it, the vitamins will help a ton to get you the first few EVs. Also, Pokemon can get EVs by holding the Exp. Share, so you could get the remaining EVs that way.

Does Heatran or Rotom abide by that rule, or can they be flawless with any nature too? Thanks.

RE: The Competitive Battling Questions Thread

I don't believe they do.

RE: The Competitive Battling Questions Thread

I assume that's in response to the first part, in that they can be flawless, but just to be clear, are you saying that they can or can't be any nature+flawless?

RE: The Competitive Battling Questions Thread

I was planning to use Mienshao in competitive battling with the following moveset:

Mienshao @ Life Orb
Adamant (+Atk -SAtk)/Jolly (+Spd -SAtk)
EVs- 252 Atk and 252 Spd

-Fake Out
-U-Turn
-Hi Jump Kick
-Stone Edge

However, there is a bit of a problem: if I get Jolly nature, it will have the max stats of 349/339 (Atk/Spd), and if I have Adamant nature, the max stats will be 383/309. I don't think Jolly will give Mienshao enough offensive power to OHKO other Pokemon, but with Adamant it could easily get outsped (which is important for U-Turn). Which nature should I pick?

RE: The Competitive Battling Questions Thread

Mienshao needs jolly. Without it, its too slow. Hi Jump Kick is such a powerful move that even without adamant it will do a ton of dmaage. And, I think Stone Edge/Rock Slide is needed because it lets you KO Chandelure, a common switch in.

Trust me Gliscors and Latios/as switch into him more often that Chandelure.

Agreed about the Gliscor part. As for LatiAS, I'm not sure how much an HP Ice is going to do anyways, especially with its incredibly good special defense and only a x2 weakness. Mienshao's special attack isn't that great either when you don't invest in it.

I think what it helps for mostly is Gliscor, which is everywhere these days. So even for Gliscor, I'd think it's a smart switch over Stone Edge. While Chandelure may be a common switch in WHEN IT'S USED, Chandelure was 49 in OU on the usage percentages. Gliscor is 5. I think Gliscor is the bigger threat here.

RE: The Competitive Battling Questions Thread

I personally run Mienshao with HP Ice, and Gliscor is probably Mienshao's most common switch in. Just be sure to run 96 Sp Att EVs to guarentee the OHKO.
