RE: The Competitive Battling Questions Thread

Thank you, Bippa. I'll say that's the best possible Hydreigon set for me, since I like it partially physical, plus my current team has problems with Blissey. Best set regardless though.

SA, that's the response I expected. Latios...

Would Registeel make good support for it since it has Thunder Wave and Stealth Rock?

RE: The Competitive Battling Questions Thread

As a support Pokemon, Registeel will be eternally outclassed by Ferrothorn. Registeel has base 75 attack, while Ferrothorn has base 94. So Ferrothorn will hit harder. The biggest advantage for Ferrothorn though, is its access to Leech Seed, which keeps it alive, and can lessen the blow when a teammate switches in.

In UU however, Registeel is a solid choice. But in the OU metagame, Leech Seed and the higher attack will always put Ferrothorn on top, and the water resistance is a huge boon for Ferrothorn considering that Rain teams are very common.

In short, yes Reigsteel can make a good support Pokemon. But Ferrothorn is a better support Pokemon.

RE: The Competitive Battling Questions Thread

Hi, I was wondering (sorry if this is in the wrong place), when EV training, if a pokemon recives its EVs sooner rather than later (ex: lv 5 vs lv 15) would that make a difference in their stats at say LV 50? Thanks for the help :)

RE: The Competitive Battling Questions Thread

No. The formula for stats is static.

Wait, so even if a Lv. 30 pokemon and Lv. pokemon recive the same EVs (provided their IVs and natures are the same), then their stats would be the same at lv 50? I know they would be the same at Lv. 100 but Lv. 50 too?

RE: The Competitive Battling Questions Thread

Yes they would.

Code:
attack=floor((baseatk * level / 50 + AtkIV + 5 + ( atkev / 4 * (level / 100))) * nature effect)
HP = floor(((2 * basehp + hpiv + ( hpev / 4 )) * level / 100 + level + 10));

That is weird, but I guess it makes sense thanks for the help dragon expert :)

RE: The Competitive Battling Questions Thread

Floor just means it rounds the value down if that confused you.

does wide guard protect against allies attacks (surf eq etc)??
Provided that 1 ally Pokemon used Wide Guard and the other one used Surf...then yes. However in that case, you'd usually be better off just having a partner with Levitate or Water Absorb.

Wait, whoa, does Levitate stop Surf?

RE: The Competitive Battling Questions Thread

No.

What DNA means to say is that Levitate protects against Earthquake, while Water Absorb protects against Surf.

RE: The Competitive Battling Questions Thread

Okay, so what are good move sets for a Aggron(rockhead ability), Zoroark(with snarl), Sharpedo and a Crobat? idc about EVS stuff like that. If you could list the best attacks that cover each of their weaknesses and such ( i also dont care about power up moves like hone claws and stuff) lol thanks!

RE: The Competitive Battling Questions Thread

There are no real good movesets for any of those. Aggron has the worst typing in the game, being 4x weak to two of the most common attacking types. Snarl is a waste of a movespace on Zoroark. Crobat and Sharpedo aren't worth being used in OU due to their lackluster offensive and defensive stats.
