RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Seriously though, Clippers need to secure Doc (get the "trade" approved) so that CP3 resigns. I was hoping it would be Shaw they hired, but obviously Doc is the better coach.

Hopefully Shaw gets a job somewhere... :(

Apparently, he got da Nuggets.

dmaster out.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

I believe the Doc to the Clips deal is official. Clips send a 2015 1st-Round pick to Beantown.

LAC will attempt to re-sign Rivers to a 3-year/21 million dollar contract to coach the team.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

"i had to explain to the international viewers that the Boos are an American sign of respect"

Stern epic quote right there

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

As a cavs fan, I can't say I'm super /unhappy/ with bennet. I don't know a lot about him, but perhaps that's where my blind faith comes from. I have a lot of knowledge about the rest of the top 5 or so and didn't like any of them. Hopefully the Cavs know what they're doing here.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Best part of the night was seeing Bill Simmons' face after he learned of the Celtics-Nets trade and Doc calling him an idiot. Your tears will make for a good beverage.

Oh, and The Dream's special showing was great. That was an awesome way to see Stern off.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

McCollum and Lillard. That has the potential to be one of the best young backcourts in the NBA.

Portland hopes McCollum ends up the next Damian Lillard, I hope so too.

McCollum getting drafted in the lottery is not only good exposure for the Lehigh program, but for the Patriot League as a whole.

McCollum became the 2nd player to be drafted from the Patriot League (Bucknell C Mike Muscala became the third later last night) since the league's creation in 1991.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

I don't like what Portland did. There's clearly a glaring weakness at the center position, and McCollum is a near replica of Lillard. I'm just not seeing how he compliments more than he duplicates.

The Kings won this draft by snagging McLemore, the best player in the draft, at No. 7. Hopefully this improves on Cousins' game as well now that the floor is a little more spaced. Ofc, he needs to get his head screwed on right before any of that goes down. New arena, quality draft pick, new coach; clearly things are looking up for Sacramento.

theory: celtics are making their team worse and other teams good so they can help stop a heat 3peat and snag andrew wiggins next year ;)

Sac-Town did get probably the best player in McLemore. I hate how the Pelicans ripped themselves off by sending both Nerlens Noel AND a coveted 2014 1st Round to Philadelphia for Jrue Holiday.

JRUE HOLIDAY.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Yeah, Pelicans had a good chance to have a great frontcourt with Noel and Davis. BLOCK PARTY. What confuses me more is that Vásquez improved A LOT last season and Rivers is just coming out of his rookie season. Jrue Holiday isn't even an all star; he only got picked because Rose and Rondo were gone lol.

Oh well. At least now we know Bynum isn't staying in Philly.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Holiday is a very good point guard, but the trade is senseless for the Pelican'ts.

Surprised there isn't more discussion about the Nets-Celtics trade. The Nets have a sick starting five next season:

PG Williams
SG Johnson
SF Pierce
PF Garnett
C Lopez

...but they put all their eggs in one basket and gave up a few future first round picks.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

David Stern relished the boos during his final NBA Draft and he even poked fun by saying.

"That the boos was an American sign of respect" when we was talking to those who may have been watching abroad in different countries/languages.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

I would talk about the Nets, but the Lakers showed me that adding aging and injury-prone superstars to your lineup doesn't work as well as you hope. Can it combat the Heat? Sure, it might very well be able to. Will it be successful as hoped? That is the million dollar question. If it fails due to injuries and fatigue like I expect, the ultimate winner is the Celtics for unloading their roster for a rebuilding.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

I never crowned them as NBA Champs, but they do have a more complete starting five than the Lakers had or the Heat have. They have obstacles to overcome, such as an inexperienced head coach, injuries, and former stars like D-Will and Joe Johnson bouncing back after poor seasons in a disappointing year for the Nets in general last season.

I think you need the right head coach too; Mike D'Antoni wasn't the right head coach for the Lakers.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

The Nets are going for that win now attitude while other teams are looking towards winning in the future. This could either work really well, or really terribly. (2008 Celtics v 2012 Lakers) I think it's an interesting team and it's certainly got a chance of challenging the Heat next year. It's just a huge risk in throwing away the future for the present.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

If Dwight lands himself in Houston, I consider them one of my top choice to walk out the west provided he's healthy at the time. I'm also interested on how Clippers do with Doc. If they can get 50+ wins / 17 game win streak with Poopy Del Negro coaching and obvious plays, I only fear what will happen with Doc behind the wheel.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

This is so sad: Lakers are potentially offering Howard a TV show, while a Dallas restaurant is offering a lifetime supply of chicken fingers. The guy acts like a little kid so these are actually logical ways to get his attention. Your move, Rockets.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Boys go after TV shows and chicken fingers. Real men go after championships.
