NBA Discussion Thread

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

In other news, it has been revealed that the Houston Rockets took Dwight Howard to some guy's back yard, where they played with model rockets all day. Sources say that Howard signed a 5-year max contract with them half way through the play date, but went ahead and met with the other teams just to see what kind of freebies he could get.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

There has been a three-way trade between the Clippers, Suns, and Bucks accepted.

Los Angeles Gets:
J.J. Redick
Jared Dudley

Phoenix Gets:
Eric Bledsoe
Caron Butler

Milwaukee Gets:
Two future 2nd round picks

The trade is good for the Clips, great for the Suns, and horrible for the Bucks (sorry Teapot). The Suns got prized young talent Bledsoe from the Clippers and would most likely be a trade piece with Dragic already at PG for the Suns.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

I was hoping Clippers kept Bledsoe to avoid the problems the Thunder had, but I also hope the guy gets traded again to a team that needs a starting PG. The kid has too much talent to stay on the bench for another season. :[

Then again, Bledsoe might stay with Suns. There's no such thing as having too many guards in the NBA.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

I can't see two PGs starting in the same offense, but I definitely don't see Bledsoe sitting on the bench again, this time, on a bad team. Additionally, there are several places the Suns could look to upgrade at (specifically, a wing player).

Brad Stevens, coach of the Butler University Bulldogs has become the new head coach of the Boston Celtics.

Had KG been on the roster, he'd be older then his head coach by 5 months.

shaka smart for 76ers

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Kevin Martin signed a four year deal with the T-Wolves earlier today. The departure of K-Mart leaves a huge hole at SG for the Thunder - one that, as of right now, Sefolosha and Lamb would fill, unless the Thunder go after someone else.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

I would say Kyle Korver would be a good replacement for KMart, but he's signing with lolHawks. Nate Robinson? Bulls have shown no sign of resigning him so far, plus he adds need scoring off the bench. Another option is to stop the 6th man shooting guard bullshit and go for a big to be your third scoring option.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

I actually like the idea of Nate Robinson coming off the bench and giving the Thunder a scoring option. That would obviously be a continuation of the Thunder's sixth man regime. The Thunder already have a big man who can score, sort of. Ibaka's offense has developed in strides from when he first came into the NBA very raw. He's not a consistent offensive threat, but he's still growing.

Then there's Steven Adams, whom the Thunder selected 12th overall to be the center expected to usurp Perkins. He's a good defender and should be a good rebounder, but his offense is not at an NBA level yet.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

The Thunder actually had Nate back in 2011 but then they decided to go the Perkins route instead...I definitely would have liked to see Nate stick around. He brings large amounts of energy to every team that he comes off the bench from or even starts.

Ibaka is really nothing more than a jump shooter now which is pretty disappointing. I thought he would develop into a better big man like Hibbert, Howard, Duncan, etc but he's really just an extension of the way the whole team plays now. I think they do need a backup PG at the very least because we all saw how much Westbrook going down _really_ hurt them in the playoffs as they barely got past the Rockets and essentially got swept by the Grizzlies (as bad as they lost to the Heat the year before I'd say lol) who got swept by the Spurs in kind.

dmaster out.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Right, Ibaka's post game still leaves a lot to be desired. I still believe, however, that the core of the Thunder (Russ, Ibaka, KD) are still ever-developing individually and as a team.

Reggie Jackson, the Thunder's backup PG, showed flashes of greatness once he was thrust into a starting role during the series against the Grizzlies, but was inconsistent, which is to be expected. Really, though, it's hard for most teams to claim they've got an excellent backup point guard; the Clippers used to be able to, but now, even they can't.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Al Jefferson signs with Bobcats. His defense doesn't help any, but the offense is certainly a great boon. For a team 24th in paint scoring, the draft of Zeller and signing of Al makes a lot of sense now. I'm glad they're not tanking it like Boston and the 76ers.

Besides, nobody wants to see Wiggins or Parker get drafted to Charolotte, right?

Al Jeff to the Bobcats? At least the Jazz can start Favors now.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

New Trade: Tyreke Evans to Pelicans via S-and-T. Robin Lopez to Portland; Greivis Vasquez to Sacramento. Portland sending cash and draft picks to Pelicans.

I like it.

There's always the chance LBJ goes back home to Cleveland in 2015.

Cleveland will be playing some pretty decent basketball.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

As of right now, New Orleans' starting five would be:

PG Holiday
SG Gordon
SF Evans
PF Anderson
C Davis

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

I think I might prefer Wiggins to James if he is as good as he's hyped to be. I feel Irving would play better alongside Wiggins.
