NBA Discussion Thread

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Well, you have to look at the big picture. I want to build a dynasty in Cleveland. LeBron will be 30 by the time he makes it to free agency. In addition, there are potential complications in terms of the fan base and media with LeBron.

Again, I'd like to stress that this is only if Wiggins /is/ the prospect of the decade like he is hyped to be.

Yeah, Wiggins is a really hyped prospect, but I don't see Cleveland being that terrible enough to get the #1 pick.

Orlando and Charlotte will probably be fighting to the death so to speak to get the lucky bounce to get the top pick.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

I just can't see how anyone can justify not wanting LeBron over anyone at this point except Durant, especially someone who's still in college right now.

LeBron at 30 is better than nearly everyone at their primes. He's a once in a generation talent, and I hate the guy.

The only thing surrounding Wiggins after his freshman season in college is hype, and it isn't as if first overall picks haven't flopped in the NBA before (plus, I don't see the Cavs being bad enough to be in contention for a lottery pick, as others have mentioned).

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Dubs reportedly sign Iguodala.

C - Bogut
PF - David Lee
SF - Iggy, Barnes
SG - Thompson, Iggy
PG - Curry

niceeee

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

I don't understand the signing with Barnes still developing into, hopefully for them, a solid NBA player. Plus, Iggy doesn't really fit into their run n' gun offensive scheme.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Reportedly, Dwight Howard will sign with the Rockets. I guess playing with model rockets appealed most to him.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Plus they might get Josh Smith via sign-and-trade if what I hear is correct.

rip other teams

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Howard is now "50-50" on Lakers and Rockets.

He's really milking his five minutes of fame.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

"ESPN sources say Dwight Howard is leaving L.A. because of D’Antoni’s system, Nash’s age and not wanting to be Kobe’s sidekick for 3-4 years."

First reason is obvious, last two are childish and silly. Grow up, Dwight.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

"We have been informed of Dwight's decision to not return to the Lakers. Naturally we're disappointed. However, we will now move forward in a different direction with the future of the franchise and, as always, will do our best to build the best team possible, one our great lakers fans will be proud to support. To Dwight, we thank him for his time and consideration, and for his efforts with us last season. We wish him the best of luck on the remainder of his NBA career."

- Mitch Kupchak

Take notes Dan Gilbert.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Something tells me that a frontcourt of J-Smoove and Howard wouldn't mesh well together. Even if they don't sign Smith, they still have a formidable team as it stands.

Yeah, Dan. You needed to swallow your pride and remain humble after LBJ left. You made yourself look just as bad as LeBron with your outburst after the 'Decision'.

No need to fear, Josh Smith is signing with the Pistons for two years iirc.

Josh Smith signed 4 year-56 million dollar contract according to ESPN.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

The Pistons were one of my favorite teams to watch in the mid-2000s with their excellent defense. This signing helps them out on both ends of the court.

PG Calderon
SG Knight
SF Smith
PF Monroe
C Drummond

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

CC, Calderon is going to sign with the Mavs with a four-year deal.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Scratch that about the Clips no longer having a great backup point guard. They just signed Darren Collison to a two year deal.

Also, Jarrett Jack to Cleveland.

That Piston's D was absolutely ridiculous, one of the greatest defensive teams ever. They barely gave up points, like that game 3/4 where they held the four hall of famers on the lakers to a meager 68 points. Sweet jesus.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Don't forget the 2006 All-Star Game where Flip Saunders put four Piston All-Stars in with Lebron James to come back from a 20-something deficit. That squad had amazing synergy.

Speaking of that sexy Pistons team, I hope Chauncey Billups re-signs with the Clippers or any team looking for a ring. He can't play like he did (although he had a game vs Memphis where he looked like Mr. Big Shot again), but his leadership and insight is helpful on any team he's on.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

It would be awesome to see him sign with the Pistons, play one or two more years, then retire as a Piston. Most likely, however, he'll look to sign with a team that has championship aspirations as a veteran.
