PokeBeach's Official 5th Gen Ban List

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

Removed Latios from the ban list; added Garchomp to the ban list on our PO server.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

Woah, slow up a minute, We're banning garchomp? Can someone explain the logic here? I know smogon have banned it, but we've done 0 testing and shouldn't we reach our own conclusions?

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

Well I don't have much experience with garchomp cuz I don't often use him but I do know he is a slaughtering machine especially when used with dragon dance kind of like speed boost blacken with swords dance but not as good

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

Garchomp doesn't even get Dragon Dance, and thank god he doesn't. Get your facts right.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

Speed Boost Blaziken lol what? Garchomp is good, but is no where near as amazing as Blaziken with one SD and rapid Speed Boost. Not to mention the occasional Baton Pass.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

Dude I said I don't have much experience with garcomp so you don't gotta be a jerk about that like I have time to know every move a pokemon learns and every move it doesn't learn

My guess is that we've been following Smogon's ban list (the first post still needs to be updated, though).

I said that speed boost blaziken was better than garchomp i said that garchomp isn't as good as speed boost blaziken

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

They both are impossible. Let's just settle it already. I'm all for banning those two. Chomp had Sand Veil to help it SD, and Blaze has Protect+Speed Boost+SD. That's it.

dragonexpert, good move.

Garchomp is one of the best sweepers ever created by Game Freak. With awesome offensive powers (base 130 Attack along with high power moves and access to Swords Dance. Its base 102 Speed is also nothing to joke about) and decent bulk (108/95/85, which is bulkier than Swampert), Garchomp is a complete nightmare to face. Although Garchomp has so many great things under his belt, he still had his counters. Wait, did I forget to mention Sand Veil? Sand Veil gives Garchomp a free 20% Evasion to all moves when Sandstorm is in play, meaning your Ice Beam that will normally score a OHKO on Chomp is going to be hitting like Stone Edge. Garchomp is a Pokemon you DO NOT want to give a free turn to set up on because of a miss caused by Sand Veil. Many players started abusing Sand Veil to the fullest by giving Garchomp the moveset Substitute/Swords Dance/Dragon Claw/Earthquake. The idea behind this set is to use Substitute until your opponent finally misses, then set up a Swords Dance and proceed to sweep. Many say that Garchomp can be easily countered by Bronzong and Skarmory (who could only phaze, btw), but both suffer from the terror that is known as Sand Veil or by a rarer Fire Fang variant.

I totally agree to this ban. It costed me plenty of matches just a couple days ago. I only needed one of three moves to hit to break sub and I miss with all three. Garchomp just has such good stats and a movepool to use them that it works wonders even without Sand Veil. It also just passes the base 100s in Speed making it able to deal with them effectively. One may claim Ferrathorn is also a good check, but the problem with that statement is that if Sub is up, you're getting 2HKO'd by Earthquake from a +2 Garchomp. The rare versions that have Fire Fang are also problematic for Ferrathorn.

The Yache Berry variant, though less popular, was also a great set. It gets rid of the most common technique to get rid of Garchomp, Ice Beam. True it will get 2HKO'd still, but chances are Garchomp will KO the foe before it takes a second Ice Beam. It worked by setting up Swords Dance just like the other, but had protection from its main weakness. This makes the only technique to get rid of this variant in one hit be Outrage from a powerful dragon Pokemon assuming it hits if the weather is sandstorm.

We also don't really have a large enough community to do our own suspect testings. Maybe if we had a large enough community we could, but I think we should just follow Smogon's tiers to avoid confusion and save time.

Blaziken doesn't get Baton Pass + Speed Boost, bro. It's illegal.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

That was really just a comment to show that Blaziken outclasses in every way. Just wait until it gets released in America. Random Matchup troll.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

Why is it that Shaymin Sky Forme is banned, but Lande Forme isn't?Is it beacuse of Serene Grace+Kings Rock+Air Slash=Nere-Infinate flinching? You do know that there's another pokemon that can do just that, but can learn two flinch moves.(I'm not saying what pokemon, since It's likley to get banned if I say.)

Lolololol, Skymin is Ubers because of its insane speed, access to flinch hax, and overall of course outspeeds everything nonscarfed(mainly said). If you've ever played Ubers, you'd see that it's a top threat even there. I use it, and it's hard to kill even with the frailness it has (SubSeed), it's sure as heck durable. And King's Rock? There's a clause that disallows hax items. Your sig reminds me of the Starburst commercials, no offense.

Back to the topic: I got a big smile out of seeing Garchomp banned. After a few days of experiencing and losing some key Pokemon able take it out in many ladder battles pretty much killed me :/ As for Blaziken, test it out, as I've had hardly any problems killing the fire chicken, but, to each their own I suppose.

/ends my two cents

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

Hahaha

Shaymin Sky has too good of a movepool and stats. 120 Sp. Atk puts a dent in most everything and 127 Speed outspaces almost everything not scarfed. Serene Grace is just too much as it gives Air Slash a 60% chance to flinch, which when combined with its high speed can prevent most everything from hitting. Serene Grace also increases Seed Flare's chance to lower the foe's Sp. Def, which makes you hit even harder even if they resist your moves.

hahaha

Go ahead, say it. I need another laugh.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

Togekiss, which is OU, Jirachi does the job better imo then Togekiss.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

Back when we could use most any pokemon in tournaments, you couldn't use Jirachi. You could, however, use Togekiss.(When we're able to use non-Unova pokemon, how much you wanna' bet that Jirachi will still be banned?)

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

Huh? What are tournies are you talking about? Togekiss and Jirachi have been usable in all tiers, in all tournies since they've been out.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

I wouldn't know too much about VGC, but even then I'd think they'd let Jirachi be usable
