Sahweet, i did kinda good!

The thing with smeargle is that since you have to have pokemon on it, smeargle is the art pokemon, so it makes perfect sense to use him.

I'd just like to appologize for my apparant lack of skill. I was asked to join this competition because B-Ray recognized my skills as an artisit, and I just feel that your comments are demeaning. I'm not asking for you to rejudge my piece of art, all I want is to be respected.
It's pretty plain to see that HS doesn't like my art, and it doesn't seem that I fit into this contest, as a lot of people are critisizing my art, and it's not Constructive Critism. With this in mind, I'm droping out, because art is about expressing your self, and I think that I'm an artisit, and if no one else thinks that, I don't care, becaue it doens't matter what you think of me, it's what I think of me.

Yes, I didn't like your art, yes, I was rude. But I really expect something when it comes to a competition like this, adding a background or even just using better text/using a better font/colour would have made it seems better. But to me it just seemed like you didn't even bother, and you reap what you sow.
Yes, art is about expressing yourself, and you didn't do that. You seem to like spriting, if you would have used some sprites it might have actually been way better. I don't like the fact that you seem to have to be good at everything in this contest either, but the least you can do is try.
Oh, well, all I can ask you is to not drop, because otherwise someone else might lose this match, and they'd have to go. Oh, well, I'm not going to stop you anyways.

Last Round I entered a sprite, and everyone said that spriting isn't the best thing to use.
I only have accses to Paint, so my options are limited. I express myself in every piece of art I create. I don't have very "cool" fonts or colors, and I can't make cool effects. Even if I did get a fancy art program, I have limited time on the computer, and can't spend hours and hours learning how to use the program, let alone spend hours on the computer.

You didn't like my art, but art is art, and I believe that all art should be respected, as long as it's creator is making an honest effort to express himself.
I used to respect you, and thought that your were a kind person, but apparently you can't respect my art because of circumstances.

Having no art programs is no excuse.....at all. I made myself good USING paint, and when others suggest Photoshop or GIMP I said no because I was used to art.....even without Photoshop or GIMP, theres Paint.net (a FREE program) just like Photoshop.....you COULD have done better....we all know it. The fact that you didnt is the problem....dont go crying if people dont like your art if you dont try. PLAIN and SIMPLE.

I'm not using it as an excuse. I actually thought my art was decent. Apparently, I don't belong in the art community.

I will be dropping out of this contest. Art is Art, and if you can't respect it, I can't respect this "art" comunity. So whatever, I will not be participating in any art thing you guys might want, as you obviously don't appreciate people who aren't as good as you guys are.

OK, I've been asked to do in a hurry, so I can't go into much detail either... I might try and do more for it next time I get called (if I get the time t do so -_-

Wes: 50/60 (awesome theme, just a little OU by you)
MK: 27/60 (the others have said enough here...)
Andyman: 51/60 (loved the effect, but if only there was more than just red...)
INFERNAPE: 33/60 (it just LOOKS bland... overuse of the same colour isn't good)
pkia2: 50/60 (despite having smeragle AGAIN...)
Abaxter: 16/60 (the others have said it all I'm afraid...)
Zzzdark: 49/60 (gotta love the effect this generates :))
Bellomence: 43/60 (it's nice, but a tad... well, smeraglized -_-)
Necro_Thy: 48/60 (I'm 99% sure I have that lightning on my comp :p. But I'm none too sure of the effect you used...)
Bulbasaur45: 37/60 (bad Smeragle is bad... and the text at the bottom is not at all clear)
TSC: 46/60 (it's nice bar the hand thing, but am I the only one who finds it hard to tell where the border between the hand and the face on the hand here?)
MUCKSTER: 47/60 (it's good, but a TAD convoluted... I should know; less is often more :))

Well, it dosent matter Abaxter, because you were Unanimously voted OUT. In addition to Abaxter, Lugia58 and Boracay_Jason are out because of incomplete work.

Now it is time to announce the next challenge! I think its time to add one of those twists to Project Custom!

Challenge #3-GROUP CHALLENGE! Your Challenge is to create Three Avant-Garde pieces of art that show a blend of each artists style in each!

One of the harder challenges Project Custom will have, but to make it a little easier (or harder >_>) you will be placed in groups.

What I need from the following groups is:
  • 3 Pieces (one for each artist, Wes' Group that only needs 2 because they only have two people.) that is Avant-Garde and blend together yet shows each artists different styles
  • An explanation of your pieces and how they are coherent and blend.
  • All three pieces must be turned in by Wednesday February 27th 2008 at 8 PM EST.
  • If you wish to recieve a perk, all Three pieces must be turned in before Wednesday.....you all have to agree on ONE Perk. If you choose feedback, I will only give feedback for 2 out of the 3 pieces. (Wes' Group only 1)

So thats the challenge......you may BEGIN

Each person makes a piece of Avant-Garde that using the other people in there groups styles and there own.

Thats all on you guys.....my main responcibility is to train the judges on how to look for this stuff. This is gonna be hard to do, let alone judge. LMK If anyone has any questions about Avant-Garde and style. It gave some good examples under "Art"

B-ray, why not just say unique/original in the first place instead of using this word were everybody's gonna go "huh?!" and then scratch thier head like a monkey untill they realize there's a link, and then do another "huh?!" and come ask you without checking to see that it's already been answered.

I'm really just trying to be funny here, but people are gonna do those things and you probably would have made it easier on yourself to come out and say it in laymans terms.

Instead of... o_O ...french.

I'm also very curious as to how people will handle the groups. You have an avant-garde contest going alright. :p

I sincerley hope you don't belive that you don't belong in the art community. I'd hate to see someone give up art because of a contest that was supposed to promote it.

It's with the utmost respect that I say that the competition here was very tough, and you just didn't quite stack up. As for your effort, I wouldn't say the judges were overly unfair to you (well, I don't think HS's insulting manner was fair) because we grade entrants as if they we on one, equal skill level. Of course that isn't the case, but there isn't handicaps. I still appreciate you as an artist and if you ever want help with a banner I'd be glad to help you either via PM or my club.

I hope I've helped you to at least somewhat understand why we judged the way we did so you don't have to leave this contest with such a negative attitude.

Okay, I'm slightly confused here. From what I've managed to interpret to the best of my ability (I'm probably not correct), we're suppose to each create something that goes beyond what we normally do in our work, as well as reflects all the styles of each artist in our group. One piece must come from each member of the group. Am I correct? I just want to make sure because I'm quite lost on what you're asking us to do, BR.

Almost.....you basically have to create One piece for each group member that is VERY VERY creative in general, that goes beyond what we expect.....not the norm, very unique, that shows us your creativeness. Now, since this is a group challenge you may work on more than one of the pieces....as long as theres one per group member and its pokemon related, there are no more limits except to only work with you and your group members. They just have to blend with each other....
