Yeah, Im excited.....I hope to learn from some of these artists also....Im not a GREAT Banner maker....I'm just starting to grasp basic concepts but if any good banner makers want to help me out, I'd be apprieated.

Wow, I love how this has turned out so far. I wish I actually had any art program or skill on my computer so I could've joined. I noticed that with POD dropping, you said that the team would be scored differently, which isn't bad, but handicaps often are abused, or have a long term disadvantage. I was wondering if it's against the rules to help them, concept wise. I am pure junk at art itself, so would in no way actually do any work for their team (i can somewhat recolor sprites like a n00b.....that's about it XD) but to help them with Concept and remove the handicap. I completly get if you don't want me to, just saying I'd have no problem with it. But randomly letting people help would be stupid, as sabotage would be easy, but you could have a sign up for Concept Creators for the two handicapped teams (heck, you can do it for all teams if you want).

I really don't care if you say yes or no to my idea, I'm just really looking forward to more submissions. Good-luck to everyone!

I dont really know.....it could go either way.....but I had to give them something for POD's absence.....I think shes worth +4.....but youre welcome to help I guess.

To Everyone else-I've finished my Avant Garde example....well the 1st Draft anyways. Im probably gonna post it on Monday so that you can get a better idea and still have some time to change.

Well, Im very suprised that this thread kinda shut down for the day.....maybe it was because it was Sunday, but ah well.

TSC-I'm yet to give the feedback as your group hasnt turned in ALL of their pieces....I believe I said I'd go over 2/3.....but So far yours is the only one I've seen submitted.

On a better note, I'm ready to post my example. Since I was by myself, I really tried to pick a theme that still blended and could work with others if put together. I chose Music as my theme, because not only is music a big part of pokemon (look at the movies) but its not very well represented otherwise (Krickitune? :( ) So this is my avant-garde example to show you guys!

As you see, I really put some thought into incorperating the music into this.....I did so with the CD Backround (making that transparent sucked) and the Treble Clef and notes around it.....I think that the text itself is the highlight of the piece as it really CONNECTS pokemon to music in a good way (unlike Krickitune) I've never seen something remotely like this before, with the backround and text and notes and all, so I believe its very Avant Garde. So please let me know what you think....Comments and Feedback from you guys would be also very apprieated. Im fairly new to banners.....so any feedback would be apprieated!

Just a thought, but this challenge is looking pretty hard, could you extend the deadline by a couple days?

The negotiations are hard because our group doesn't visit on Pokebeach on he same time. We have different time zones.

And Necro-Thy took vacation week. Do our group still have to do 3 banners ?

Yeah. I agree. We really need a deadline extention for this challange. After seeing your example, BR, my idea isn't going to work (although Moneyking's might), and I'm having a tough time thinking up another idea, one that is completely origional. One and a half days isn't near enough time after you just now showed us what the challange really meant, IMO. If it can't be extended, I'm afraid I'm dropping out, because these next two days are going to be quite busy for me... I'll be lucky to get in three hours at most into this challange out of both days combined, and that's pushing me a little.

As for feedback on your banner, BR, it's pretty cool and definately original, but I don't see how the text ties Pokemon and music together. Even after realizing the '96 part (took me 15 minutes to figure out that it was the founding year of pokemon), you need to realize it's a commonly used saying, slogon, or whatever. I've seen that "*insert action here* since *insert founding year*" phrase quite commonly used by other companies as a way of bragging about how long they're been in business, so people viewing the banner will not be able to see the connection without studying it for a good while. If I were a judge scoring this, "Origionality" would suffer a 2 point drop at the least because of the slogon you used for the mentioned reasons.

I also couldn't help bu notice the text animation.... how the text was growing brighter in the beginning, but then the next frame darkened it right away. It may be just me, that sudden change in text brightness/contrast just bugged me. The glow is cool, though.

ANyways, there's my two cents.

Wes-Im afraid your wrong here.....the slogan isnt the one your thinking of. Making music refers to the harmony the trainer and Zam share while battling while since 96' shows that it's been that way since it started.(notice how I also used the FR/LG Male Trainer to show that) Besides that it has no relevence to anything but the banner....its completly original. Also, with the text issue, It was not intentional but I was pleased with it TBH....it really puts the focus on Makin Music to explain what you guys couldnt figure out and I just explained.

Bellomence-Nah.....just 2. I'll write Necro_Thy as vacay.

So there we go!

So can we do two instead? And extending the deadline would be great. 7PM for you is 8AM for me, so it's very awkward.

I really like the banner b-ray. It is pretty original in the fact that you're associating music with pokemon, can't say I've seen that before.

The CD makes for a nice background, but it would be cooler if you could somehow incorporate pokemon more into the CD itself. Maybe distorting the trianer and 'zam to look as if they were actual printed on the CD. As an added animation effect it might also be cool to have the notes dance a little. Not something obnxious, but just a slight change in position would do it.

Well thats what Avant-Garde is....I dont make the example for nothing lol

My mom had the same idea about the CD.....but I told her the same thing I'll tell you.....I think that messing with the CD with effect the basic ligitmacy of the topic.....you cant go and Spell it out for everyone....they have to look at it and see the true art in it. The notes animation is a good idea, remember that this is just my 1st Draft....I can still mess around with this stuff.....but I probably wont as Im just making it to make an example for the artists :]

But do we have to do the best of the bestest ? I mean I don't know what are they expecting of me..... If they wouldn't see what they wanted to see from me, I'll be fried.... Is the challenge like that ??

Bellomence, what b-ray is looking for here (correct me if I'm wrong) is just something very original/creative/unique. They all mean basicaly the same thing, choose whatever makes most sense to you.

Thats about it....the only thing I'd add is fresh.....its gotta be really just cool, or the original wont go well with the judges. Things CAN be creative and horrid at the same time.....dont make it like that xD
