I donno.....I've been a little busy but still have found time to construct two pieces of acceptable art by now.....that CD Banner, and now this.
This can also be used as an example, it is Avant Garde, but not what I would make for this challenge as it really shows no connection with a team member unlike the last banner. I was thinking about creativity when I made it, and got the idea last night.....I spent about two hours constricuting it and animating it....110 Frames of Animation....most by far in any animated piece I've done so bare with me as it WILL lag.

This is my Second Draft.....I ended up making the Final Pass show for a full minute before disassembling again.....but I wanted to show the effect quickly, so Im showing you this one. Basically I had the idea of it creating itself, as I've never seen it done before. However, I've heard that it looks more like a tutorial (which it clearly isnt) because it kinda shows you what happens. I'm very proud of this piece as it really shows the effort that goes into these.....mind you this is a simple pass. I might be doing more of these in the future depending on how well you think this is done.....Please be patient and watch the whole animation.....It will loop so if the page took time to load you can watch it again....its not that long. So LMK what ya think.....and why am I the only one posting art in here???? xD

Thanks guys for all the nice comments! It does also de-construct itself....figured I'd point that out if people missed it. It did take a TON of work, but it was well worth it as the final result is truly innovative.

WOOT! First one to post their piece!

I'm sorry if I'm not suppose to post mine before my partner's is finished, but firstly, I badly need feedback, and secondly, I may not be here tomorrow, seeing as I am working for most of tomorrow, so there may not be another good time to post my piece.

I had to really stretch my mind for this challange, especially to stray away from the Eeveelutions (although even those kind of pieces probably wouldn't be creative enough, anyways.... lol)... In the end there were only two ideas that just might work, and my partner and I are using both ideas (he is finishing up one of them while I just finished mine). I was still a tad confused about what was expected, so I hope this is good enough. Here it goes...

- Background is the Halo ring world with Texture filter applied. The side of the ring world was edited to take out the un-needed gray area that was by the ring for some reason.
- Text font is Mufferaw and. No extra effects were added other than a 65% opacity.
- It took forever in a day to cut out the explosions with Layer Mask from their origional pics, but hey were cut out, then shinked A LOT to fit in the background.
- Palkia was darkened to keep it from standing out too much, but just enough to also be the focus of the picture.
- The Hornet was edited with Replace Color to take out un-necessary blue.
- Master Chief layer has 50% Opacity.
- Explosion behind Master Chief was brightened a lot to somewhat make the bright ness of the other explosions in the picture.

Piece/Relation-to-Challange Details:
Random ideas and effects were tried out in this pic, as usual, although, I didn't go crazy on the effects this time around because the background and the other images used did most of the "effect work." Theme-wise, I tried to merge two different space related pics. Palkia is obvious... the ruler of space, so no suprises with his presence... Now, for those that have been living under a rock for 5+ years or so, Halo is a VERY popular Sci-fi shooter game for the X-Box created by Bungie Studios that takes place in the year 2555 (or it could be later). Halo is also the name of the sacred ring world that you see in the picture. This is where most of the action takes place on, particularly the raging war between humans and The Covenant, an alien species that seeks to destroy the human race. Anyways, I combined the two space-related themes to create this. The "slogan," basically says that you'll never be the best, something that many would consider demoralizing, and I intended it to have that demoralizing theme. The Master Chief in the Halo game pretty much slaughters most of the Covenant, so he's one of the so-called "great powers." Then there's Palkia, who is... well... the GOD of space, pretty much, so he's greater than all of the so-called "mortals." The explosions are there as a sort of a demenstration of Palkia's god-like power. My piece and my partner's both share a sense of demoralization (I don't want to spoil it, so I won't go into detail about that yet). Our pieces also both have some form of an "explosion." That's about as far as the whole "blending" part goes, unfortunately. It was difficult to find any other way of blending our styles and whatnot without completely screwing up our respective pieces.

Time Required:
5-6 hours (took a lot longer than you may think)

Personal Thoughts:
I won't lie here... This isn't exactly one of my favorite pieces. However, I don't necessarily hate it, either. Honestly speaking, I'm not really expecting a top-notch score out of this piece. In fact, I'll go as far as admitting that I may be lucky to score a 40+/60. I really hate how cramed for space I was in this banner, but nothing else I tried faired any better. I even tried different Halo ring world backgrounds, but no dice. I REALLY didn't want to abuse my immunity like this. I was hoping to create a really good piece, but not much went my way here.

BTW, I probably don't need to say this, but if it's not too late, I REALLY need feedback on this. However, if Moneyking asks for feedback on his piece, I realize that only one of our pieces will recieve any form of feedback, so if he asks for it, please provide feedback on his piece instead of mine. I may noth even be able to use the feedback since I'll be busy tomorrow.

Banner Explanation

Well, since the challenge was to make an avant-garde banner, I did my best. Let's start the explanation from the background, it was the most difficult part, I mixed all of my techniques to create it (not all sincerely). I mixed the color yellow on both backgrounds of the animated banner because of one reason, it will represent the Pokemon's electric typeness.

The text Unity in Diversity, was a real blend to the Pokemons, Plusle and Minun are united despite being Plus and Minus (Plus is diverse/opposite/different from Minus but still the Pokemons were united) and despite of their colors (Anger (Red) is different/opposite/diverse from Calm (Blue) but the Pokemons were still united). I decided to use lime green as the font colour because it blends well with the oblong background I made for the text. The mini-image of Plusle and Minun together is just an image to illustrate Plusle and Minun's unity (you can see that their working together).

The sparkles and the only two side border were just some effects to make the banner fancy. Mainly I chose red and blue on almost all special effects just to highlight the meaning of "diversity".

How does it coherent with my group's other banners ?

It coherents really.... Why ?

My text is Unity in Diversity while Zzzdark's text is All for one, One for all. It shares the same meaning, Unity. And the other is also that the colors of the Pookemons we used, I used Plusle and Minun while he used Latios and Latias, two Red and Blue Hoenn duos that are always united.

Me and Bellomence decided to go for unity on our banners. Since it was supposed to be Avant-Garde, I decided to do something that has never been done before. Latios and Latias fight united in the pokemon movie pokemon heroes. I therfore decide to use them. I think bellomence says the rest.

Latios and latias from arkeis.
Text is called arista.
Background and lighting made using gimp effects.
Latios head cut out from sugimori art from pokebeach home page.

It took around 4 hours.

opposites attract, plus and minus ALWAYS unite, they attract eachother. if 2 pluses would be together, that would be weird.

Would our group, knowing that Necro-thy had the vacation week, would also have the +4 on the Final Average Score, If not, it will be unfair.

And about the plus and minus thing, would my points be reduced because of that ?

Well, it was a little different for POTD because she Dropped Out alltogether.....and she didnt say something about it until the challenge was almost over (1st Date) but since it was postponed, noone will be recieving any extra points as I extended the deadline instead :]
