1.9 was supposed to have animal breeding, but they pushed that back to 1.10. There aren't many new things in 1.9 compared to 1.8. The only important things are the Netherholds, new nether mobs, NPCs in villages, and the snowmen.
 
Yesh, I joined.

Also, I'd like to help with te 1.9 pre-release. I didn't do the 1.8 one, so hopefully it'll be fun. Also, what we should try to do:

1- Settle in a nice Biome, maybe Snow so we can get Snowmen or (if it's out in 1.9) Mushroom.

2- Build basic shelter which we will later expand into a colony of mansions.

3- Maybe look for NPC Villages to see NPCs?

4- GET DIAMONDS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (so mine a ton).

5- We need Diamonds so we can mine Obsidian, so we can create a Nether Portal.

6- Settle in the Nether.

7- While in the Nether, check out the Nether Mobs and Netherholds.

Lol, if we can even get that all done XD.

So, will I have to download 1.9 to be on the server? I'm not sure I wanna screw up my game due to what Vortex is telling us lol

And yeah, Mushroom Biomes are live in 1.9.

Also, if anybody sees me in the pre-release when we do it, my skin is Deadpool from Marvel Comics. He looks similar to Ultimate Spider-Man (in my avatar).

awesome and can someone tell me how to change your skin ??
 
Well, you have to have the full version of Minecraft, and an account on Minecraft.net (which I assume you do).

Log onto Minecraft.net, and go to your profile page. From there, you can download the reference skin, and edit it with your favorite image editing program. I recommend GIMP, Paint.net, or Photoshop though.

When editing, make sure not to change the dimensions of the image, and to always save it as a .png file.

When you are done making your epic skin and have saved it somewhere as a .png, go back to your profile page on minecraft.net. Then click 'Choose File'. When the window comes up, browse to your skin, and double click it. When that's done, just click the 'Upload' button, and your off to the races! :) Whenever you log into Minecraft, it'll find your skin, and it will appear! :)

One more thing, if you don't feel like making a skin, you can always download cool looking skins off the interwebz. there are tons of cool sites with tons of cool skins on them out there.

Notch said on his Twitter that he'll add the old jumping back.
 
That and he was probably going to add charge jumping, but I guess he decided against it. I'm glad, climbing hills is so much harder now. :(

Since I'm too lazy to type out what I said in the Ban Game...

Banned because I've been playing Minecraft for 12 hours straight, from 5 pm to about 30 minutes ago at 5 am. Double banned because I worked on this amazingly big tower hotel thing. It is 35x35 every floor, and has 4 floor. Each floor is 5 blocks high, and the walls and stairs are made of Cobblestone and the floors/ceilings are made of wood planks. This entire structure rests on an airborne dirt platform that is 50x50 blocks and is two blocks thick. It is meant for holding four people, the four that worked on it, and it enormously big. The entire project took 11.5 hours.

BEAT THAT!
 
Yeah, mc.deliciouscinnamon.com. It's a server by the guys who made the Vietnamese Crystal videos, so there's tons of references to the series on the server.
