1.9 includes:

New mobs
Villager really hope they expand more on these. I saw a video, and they don't seem to do much right?
Magma Cube
Snow Golem
Mooshroom
Blaze
New blocks
Nether Bricks
Nether Stairs
Nether Fence
Lily Pad
New items
Blaze Rod
Ghast Tear Has anyone figured out a use for these?
Nether Wart
Gold Nugget

New generated structures
Nether Ruins
Can no longer jump repeatedly by holding a key
Snow golems do not take fall damage

Does anyone think they would actually put the Aether in the actual game?

My single player world has annoyed me today. I even found gold and redstone on day 2, but I lost it.
Here's a post from my profile:
Officially very annoyed. I found a Minecraft stronghold on single player, containing tracks, torches, chests etc.
The chests included Redstone, Lapis Lazuli (spelling?) and gold.
Endermen there killed me.
I respawned very far away, likely to never see those items again.

Villagers are currently in beta testing (which is why they have those strange names). At some point they will have the ability to give and receive items (be good to them and they'll be good to you). Attacking them will also make the villagers attack you all together (like zombie pigmen).

Golden nugget is the only item you bolded that currently has a use. Craft them in a 3x3 makes a golden ingot. This makes gold a renewable resource =D

^ That's cool.

I swear I almost punched my computer right now. I mined a quarter of a stack of diamond, complete iron armor set, 2 stacks of redstone, etc. I found some more diamond near a pool of water (odd right) and started mining it. I get to the last block, mine it.....turns out there was a lava pool right behind it and it flooded in....

The bad thing about mining now is that lava flows about 1.5x as fast as before. Meaning you don't have as much time to run away if mining directly in front of you.

Pro Tip: when mining straight ahead, try to stay about 2-3 blocks from the wall in front of you to prevent lava flow from overwhelming you.

EDIT: decided it might be a good idea to add a "Pro Tip" section compiled of various tips and tricks I (or anyone else) post. If you have a good tip, post it here, and I might just add it to the OP =D

I'm sure some know this, but in case others don't: Holding shift will prevent you from falling off the block your on, but releasing it will make you fall if your on the edge. Good for building on the edge of cliffs and checking right below you. It also REALLY helps when building like a bridge through a lava pool.

Edit: Also, mining gravel, placing it, mining it, etc. can get you infinite flint.

wow i did not know that that will help alot though

Tip Vault addition: The best place to find Diamonds is by creating a shaft on Layers 11 and 12, where you simply mine out the two blocks in front of you and every 3 blocks you go ahead dig 4 blocks to your left and right, then continue on your original straight path. An over head view would look like this (where x=stone and stuff and o=empty space)

x x x o o o o o o o o o x x x
x x x x x x x o x x x x x x x
x x x x x x x o x x x x x x x
x x x o o o o o o o o o x x x
x x x x x x x o x x x x x x x
x x x x x x x o x x x x x x x
x x x o o o o o o o o o x x x
x x x x x x x. o x x x x x x x
x x x x x x x o x x x x x x x

You see what I mean, right?

The resigning for layers 11 an 12 is because it's the most common spot for diamonds not on lava lake levels. Since Layer 10 is lava lakes, you will be standing on it so lava can't rush in to your mineshaft if you dig into one.

That method is called Strip Mining. To determine the layer, you would dig all the way to bedrock, and count the very bottom bedrock layer as one. The bedrock layer on top of that would be two, and the top bedrock layer would be three.

I have a tip: This only works if you have a mouse wheel. If you point your cross-hairs at a block, and middle-mouse-button click and that block is in your hot bar, you will automatically switch to it.

Incase anyone has never seen the villagers in 1.9 this is it.

Wow, that seems pretty awesome. I'm probably going to try it as soon as I get a lot of my house done. All I currently have is a main lobby, crafting room, and I'm planning to add a greenhouse. I'm also planning to add two more rooms, one with a Nether portal, and one with a Sky Dimension (official Aether that Notch is working on) portal.

By the way, my house is built into the side of a chain of mountains in a Swamp biome. Also, I'll probably post pics when I finish the greenhouse.

It's just temporary. Notch is testing them. Hence Testificate. I can't wait for them to be intractable and actually do stuff. :)

Jeb posted an image on his twitter of the new character screen. I see a bottle, and it looks like we have a use for EXP orbs =D
