BW/BW2 The Simple 5th Gen VG Questions and Answers Thread

RE: The Fifth Gen Questions and Answers Thread

What's a good choice for an ice type pre Elite 4 in b/w 2?

Current team is:

Darmanitan
Espeon
Serperior
Flyon
Magnezone
Zoroark

I was thinking of training a sandile but I would have to train him from level 25 to 50. I also thought of using a metang to metagross but he's weak to fighting (and I'd be using it against fighting). I am trying to smidge in an ice type and either take out magnezone, or if I get a Weavile take out zoroark. What is the best way to gain red shards?

RE: The Fifth Gen Questions and Answers Thread

Metagross in not weak to fighting. And you can tutor it ice punch too, I think.

RE: The Fifth Gen Questions and Answers Thread

There is a man that gives you 10 red shards in the Nimbasa Pokecenter. usable for 1 punch move.

odd I'm sorry. One site incorrectly listed Fighting weakness not ground. Bulbapedia has it correctly though.

Wow wish I refreshed this thread before I spent an hour and 20 super repels grinding for them. Thanks alot though, now I have 10 more for another move if need be.

RE: The Fifth Gen Questions and Answers Thread

So.... should I evolve my Servine or not? His evolution is long overdue, but I still haven't evolved it yet.

Is evolving a Servine into a Serperior a good idea or not?

RE: The Fifth Gen Questions and Answers Thread

Yes, with the rare exception of Vigaroth to Slacking (who gets an ability some may not like) evolving as soon as possible is the right answer 99.9% of the time.

RE: The Fifth Gen Questions and Answers Thread

The only real reason not to evolve a pokemon is so they can learn some moves quicker. Of course, Serperior gets access to some better moves that Servine doesn't, like Dragon Tail.

RE: The Fifth Gen Questions and Answers Thread

Hmm. In that case, I won't evolve it until it reaches...

LEVEL 200! Nah, I'm kidding. But I'll probably never evolve my Servine (winning the Musical contest <3)

No I mean when you finish a mini game. Sometimes a Pokemon shows no heart and if you try hard enough there is a heart but I don't know what triggers it though.:)

Oh, that.
I think it has to do with the score you got on the minigame. The higher your score, the "happier" its speech bubble.

What is the highest that it can get? I have gotten 1 red heart XD.:)

Or some pokemon like Arcanine who stop learning moves if you evolve into him. But yeah 99% of the time, evolve away, Bear in mind Servine has lower stats and that all battles will be harder.

If you want to give the game unnecessary challenge, by all means go ahead.

RE: The Fifth Gen Questions and Answers Thread

So I want to get Genesect before the deadline, and I have a few questions:

1) Is Genesect available at Gamestop, or do I have to get it via Wi-Fi?

2) I keep receiving the Error Code 52100 (w/ a 3DS and an English game) when I try to enter the settings and test the connection for the DS Internet settings. Anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

RE: The Fifth Gen Questions and Answers Thread

Here's my team:
Samurott
Lucario
Mandibuzz
Garchomp
Ampharos
Espeon
(Planned for Pokémon Black 2)
Is this good?

If I'm correct, Genesect is wi-fi, not Gamestop. So you can get him as long as you have wi-fi.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean about internet settings with a 3DS putting it on a DS or whatever you said, but when I was at my cousin's house, her stupid internet didn't work on a DS/DS Lite (tried on mine and her old one) with any game. However it worked on the Advance Settings on her DSi XL with only Black (not SoulSilver or any older games). I think it had to do with the security settings of her internet and how old the game was (whether it supported the DSi's Advance Settings or not). It worked on my iPod though. I'm not sure if this is the same problem your having, but if your not, try putting the internet info on one of the advance connection things (connection 4 or 5) on your 3DS menu, if a 3DS has that (I'm guessing it does.) Am I making any sense here?

Genesect is indeed Wi-Fi, and not Gamestop.

As for the internet settings, on a 3DS, there's internet settings for 3DS games, and then there's settings for original DS games to connect(like Pokemon for the GTS and what not). To set it up:

1. Turn on your 3DS and go over to System Settings.
2. In System Settings, select Internet Settings, and Nintendo DS Connections.

Then you just continue setting up the connection like normal.

RE: The Fifth Gen Questions and Answers Thread

Ok I've SR'd like fifty times trying to get a female Archen from the fossil. Every single one has been male. I know Archen has a 12.5 % chance of being female, but is the fossil always male or something? Because this is just ridiculous :/
EDIT: Never mind I finally got a female

Yeah, this has to do with WEP and WPA; two forms of wireless security. Virtually all DS games only work with WEP; Mario Kart, the 4th Gen games, Mega Man Star Force, etc. So if your router was set up for WPA, you were out of luck. 3DS games work with either, so there's no issue there, and the lone four exceptions of DS games using only WEP are the 5th Gen games; it might be intentional, but I believe it has to do with the packages included to get the DSi's camera working in the Xtransceiver. So yeah, the 5th Gen games will work with both, too. As you said, WEP connections need to be set up using Standard settings (or DS Connections on a 3DS), and WPA needs to be set up using Advanced (the 3DS's standard connections are what's used in that scenario). Now I've noticed that WPA can be a bit spotty at times with the 5th Gen games; namely, there might be a case where you try to trade with someone, and the moment you accept a trade, it'll disconnect. I still haven't found what causes this, so it is an issue.

Oh, okay, thanks. That makes much more sense now. Thanks for clarifying that for me :)
