BW/BW2 The Simple 5th Gen VG Questions and Answers Thread

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

No. The Zen mode is only available to the RageCandy Darmanitans.
I bred several Inner Focus Darumaka myself. You, sir, are mistaken.

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

Well i don't know if it's ok but i'll ask it here. What are current rules in 5gen metagame so far? Any links would be ok, and i don't have much time to search, due to studying. Thank you.
P.s i would be pleased if someone just PM me with link or rules.

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

The clauses that are always in effect are pretty much the same (Species, Evasion, OHKO, Sleep, Freeze); just note that in a Wifi battle, you cannot have Freeze clause as that status condition is not controllable.

Here is a banlist of Pokemon and abilities in 5th gen. This is about 95% similar to Smogon's banlist, so it can be deemed acceptable.

No it won't.
A hidden ability has a 40% chance of passing down (from the mother), otherwise you end up with one of its regular abilities. Therefore, you want to be looking for a Darumaka with Inner Focus.

Thanks DNA. I can now start of farm of Inner-Focus Darumaka! Also, when it evolves, will it have Zen Mode?

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

Yes. Every Darumaka with Inner Focus will evolve into a Darmanitan with Zen Mode.

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

I'm guessing the same goes for Karrablast with Shed Skin if you want an Escavalier with Shell Armor.

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

Yes, that's how it works. It can be hard to understand if each Pokemon has two different abilities instead of one (like, Karrablast and Escavalier share Swarm, making it obvious which one will be passed via evolution), but it's fairly easy for the most part.

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

Pretty much the only exception to this rule is Rhyperior. Both Rhydon and Rhyperior get Lightningrod, but a Rhydon with Lightningrod will evolve into a Rhyperior with Solid Rock instead. Therefore, to get the ability of choice on Rhyperior, aim to get the opposite one on a Rhyhorn.

(Why they didn't make Rock Head -> Solid Rock, I'll NEVER know.)

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

OK, so I have some quick questions about some things if anyone can help me out.

Do EV's affect IV's during breeding? So lets say I have a Exadrill with 252 EV's in Attack, 252 in Speed, and 4 in HP, but now I want more Drilburs. Would having those EV's on my Exadrill affect the IV's of my Pokemon in any Positive or Negative way?

Second question, does EXP. Share also gain the EV's of the Pokemon you just killed if you were not physically in the battle? The same goes for reverse, if I keep my Pokemon in the 1st slot with EXP. Share or Lucky Egg even though they did not kill the Pokemon do they still gain their EV's as a result?

I have a few more questions but these are the main 2 I want to know lol.

Thanks in advanced for any help!

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

Q. 1: Do EV's affect IV's during breeding?
A. 1: No EV's are in no way related to IV's execpt that they both boost your stats.

Q. 2: Second question, does EXP. Share also gain the EV's of the Pokemon you just killed if you were not physically in the battle?
A. 2: Sorta. This Example will help more then me explaining it:
Oshawott has EXP. Share
Snivy has Power Bracer
Snivy encounters a wild Lillipup
Snivy uses vine whip
Lillipup faints
Snivy gains 1 Attack EV
Power Bracer multiplies it by 2
Snivy gains 2 Attack EV's
Oshawott gains 1 Attack EV

If one pokemon has a power item or brace it gets multiplied by 2
If one pokemon has PKRS it gets multiplied by 2
If the 2nd pokemon has the EXP. Share you get regular EV's
If the 2nd pokemon has the EXP. Share you DON"T get the Ev's multiplied
The EV's only get multiplied for the 2nd Pokemon if the 2nd pokemon has PKRS

Then something must be messed up with my game, because I can't get them.

ALSO

Second question, does EXP. Share also gain the EV's of the Pokemon you just killed if you were not physically in the battle? The same goes for reverse, if I keep my Pokemon in the 1st slot with EXP. Share or Lucky Egg even though they did not kill the Pokemon do they still gain their EV's as a result?
Yes. ANY pokemon that gained EXP will get the EV's associated with that pokemon.

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

You got ultra ninja'd I posted that Yesterday >_>
Also I was wrong about the Power Items :( The Power Items give you 4 of that EV even if you were battling a Wild Fearow (2 Spe EV's) you would get 2 Spe and 4 Sp. Atk if you were holding the power lens :D

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

^and those numbers are subsequently doubled if that Pokemon has Pokerus (i.e. 4 Speed and 8 Sp. Atk).

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

What level can you start ev training because I'm using a power brace and battling lilipups and patrats on route one. I gained 3 plus stats on attack.

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

To add to that, you really need to start EV training with an untouched Pokemon, i.e. a Pokemon that has never battled, as it will have 0 EVs. The best way to do this is to go out to the wild and catch a Pokemon yourself, or go in the daycare and breed for an egg which will hatch into a level 1 Pokemon. (Most people do the latter, except in the case of legendary Pokemon, wherein you cannot hatch those and must freshly catch them.)

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

As the above mentioned, you can use berries to reduce the EVs of an EVed Pokemon. Unfortunately, these berries are extremely hard to get (apparently, the only way to get them is through a spin trade).
