I can't stand what the PR's were like for me. Since I couldn't go! Less than an inch of snow convinced my mom it was too dangerous.

What does anyone think of Gyarados now? I just made a deck for some testing(might make a Gyarados article) but I would like to know if the changes in the meta would cripple it in advance. I don't think so, but just making sure.

I'm going to my 2nd and final PR tomorrow. Not much left I need, but good fun, tradebait and I want the whole set for fun.

I haven´t gone to the prerealease yet (mine are later). About Gyarados, I think it gets a boost, but I don´t know if it´s going to see much play, as Dialga G still wrecks the deck.

Actually Dialga G dosen't wreck Gyara. I've been on the Dialga end and let me tell you, it is not easy to win that match. Even with Deafen, the lock can break. And once it does, you're in trouble :/

It only got better. Pokemon Collector helps it to an extent. And Blissey Prime is pretty good though I haven't confirmed in testing that it's needed yet.

Luxray GL gets hurt more by this set (Donphan) and the only other arguably bad matchup was Flygon which isn't even that bad of one and according to my testing very favorable.

Prime Blissey... yeah. I actually really forgot about it. She does help a ton, but the problem with Blissey is her being Power Sprayed. Then it would be a waste of bench space when you already have SSU saving Gyarados. Of course, SSU if flippy and Blissey isn't, so in some cases Blissey might help out.

My pre release was today, though I only opened one prime, meganium. But I got the good end of a trade and traded it for a flygon and flygon lv. X, I also traded for a ampharos prime and opened a bottom half of a lugia legend.

As for Blissey, I think it isn't that good especially after the rotation, because Sp's will be the main deck and power sprays will be everywhere. I don't know it could be good in Blastcatty, discard blastoise's energy then get them back with Power Circulation and Dig Well. This is the only idea I could think of that isn't a low energy deck like Gyrados or kingdra.

I just love how people are making metagame assumptions when we don't know what the rotation is and we haven't seen two of the sets that will be there next season.

The only reason I can think of that I'd need Blissey Prime against SP is if I was trying to bait a Power Spray out so I got another Crobat drop. Luxray OHKOs it, Ape/Blaze probably won't come up unless I win anyway, Garchomp's main purpose is to snipe the bench because they know I run SSU and Luxray is a better attacker against it, Dialga it might help but it's not needed if it does get sprayed and Palkia it would help but I'm going to be locked the whole game anyway.

Yeah, it would be cool if it wasn't sprayable but Gyarados ran fine against SP before it so it'll be fine now.

that is true, we don't know, they might push it back 3 set's (including hgss)and release lost link when the rotation happens so sf doesn't get included. personally I don't care that just means a few more of my deck's go completely unlimited, lol, but i'm still more curious as to know what they plan to do with legends, they don't seem so hot with the current cards.

that suck's you couldn't make PR's over an inch of snow (that is lol worthy)

it was just a random idea with donphan/plox (i don't have gallade right now so it kinda suck's for setup). cya

Don't worry, I just started ;D

It isn't the time to worry about rotation. We have until June to know about the rotation, and another six or seven months until the rotation actually comes into affect. It would be better to worry about the rotation when the time comes.

I can vouch for Brawler. Trainer lock virtually bounces right off of Gyara, and once it gets set up it wrecks some Dialga G face. The only issue is if they KO Gyara with Deafen, but you should always play a Combee tech anyway, and once you get another one out they'll be in some macho trouble.

In my opinion, it might be better actually to use Blissey Prime 1-1 instead of Luxray GL Lv.X 1-1 in Gyarados because of Donphan Prime and other fighting types and also there isn't any energy being discarded with Gyarados.

yea I was testing the matchup with Baller, You just gotta keep swinging with Gyrados and make them burn through their turns so they cant keep healing. Blissey makes the matchup even better beacuse with a combee against a never ending lock you can expect to get 2 gyarados out unless you only trash 2 craps or they break the lock, but a well timed heal pretty much adds another healed Gyarados.

Combee definitely does help in Gyarados in a Tomb/Dialga G matchup. Through my testing, if they can just keep that lock then I've always seemed to be having trouble recovering, but with Combee things can come back again. My only complaint about Combee is how she takes up bench space. While SSU does come into mind, it is flippy and I'd rather use it on Gyarados (my list doesn't run Blissey anyways.)

^Uh if bench space is a problem you're probably playing it wrong. The only card you need on your bench is something with free retreat and Crobat comes out most every game. That leaves 4 bench spots open for random techs.

I do run three Crobat G and often play them down. Just for a lot of extra damage. Otherwise, the rest is usually Claydol, Luxray, Registeel, Azelf, or Uxie. And I'm not saying I always have a large bench. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Oh well, I'll test that again.

There's the problem. You shouldn't need to play Uxie down 90% of the time and the deck isn't supposed to rely on a Regi/Lunatone for discarding. It should be able to do everything with Sableye. Also, Claydol isn't the best in the deck either unless you're looking for a better Gengar matchup. Try Dodrio, it actually draws cards mid-late game. If you're drawing more than one card mid-game with Claydol then you need to focus more on Felicity and less on a Regi. Luxray also isn't needed, I've played two games out of over 9000 ;p where it would have helped. All it really does is slow the deck down. Disruption isn't really Gyarados's thing. It's a speed, power and consistency deck.

You could also run pokeblowers. In my opinion pokeblowers are better because you don't have to flip a coin.
