RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! Getting ready for Battle Roads!

Even though there is no Claydol, each deck usually has a tech that an SP deck can at least get a free prize off of. Uxie and Azelf for example. It just can't lock a Claydol active.

True i guess, i just loved bringing up claydols :p
I'll prolly shy away from Ape this year, i just hate the two fire energy, if i played it, it would be w/ Garchomp and a 1-1 Luxray tech, that way Ape keeps his fire and only loses DCE..

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! Getting ready for Battle Roads!

Hello, I am new to the group.
I start playing pokemon again in April after a decade of not playing.
Right now, I run an arceus deck, which I think is pretty under rated.

Perhaps, but if you want a lot of multi type cards in a deck might want to wait until next set-
Absol Prime+Mew Prime+ Eevees...
lol, i might try it, Absolutions= old brought back but not as good and new concept but sorta works i think.

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! Getting ready for Battle Roads!

the problem i see with eeveelutions is the limited number of basic eevees. Running more than 4 evolutions will leave you with dead draws. The options can be good, but I think it'll lack playability.

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! Getting ready for Battle Roads!

the point is that you lost zone eveelutions so you can use their attacks with mew prime

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! Getting ready for Battle Roads!

That's a very creative idea, but I think it will take about 4 turns to many to set up. Plus with Lost World, it's begging to lose with more prizes taken then the opponent. It's a great league deck, but I think it will stay a league deck.

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! Getting ready for Battle Roads!

I think Mew Prime doesn't have enough advatanges to make work as a main focus. 60 hp isn't going far.

That sort of deck compared to Arceus doesn't really interest me. There is just a certain flow and feel to Arceus.
It also has many pluses for playing SP strong. (And other decks)

Mew will be a fun interesting card, maybe interesting with lost zoning their pokemon.

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! Getting ready for Battle Roads!

If you're playing Arceus you should use an Unown R engine if you aren't already. It helps to draw, is usable in the next format, and gets the cards out of the way so you can ripple ? easier. I have no idea what it is, it seems like it would be Ripple Swell.

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! Getting ready for Battle Roads!

I'm not sure I see how R would help. +1 draw doesn't seem too good

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! Getting ready for Battle Roads!

The Unown R engine comes with,
3-4 Unown R
4 Pokemon Rescue
1-2 Time Space-Distortion

That way you recycle Unown R's and can get about 4-5 cards early game. You could use Uxie, but Uxie hurts Ripple Swell.

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! Getting ready for Battle Roads!

Oh. (Sorry, I've seen limited strategies in my play)

Actually, I've come to like hitting ripple swell after a few prizes (1-2), but I can set up for it in 2-3 rounds anyway with beginning doors/pokemon collectors/natural and other drawing. Ripple swell is only a small part of my deck and I only run 8 basic energy.

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! Getting ready for Battle Roads!

TSD is rotated out...
Well for my idea the point is-
Start w/ Mew Prime
Dump the Eeveelutions that i want to(based on opponett's deck)
Ideally i go first so i have an OKAY chance of getting two in the lost zone
Then I either have a charged up Absol Prime(attach to Mew T1, then Absol T2, then T3 i have the two darks)
OR
Another Mew Prime
That's what i'm trying out. Also Absol is a viable start due to its body.
Also i run one/two recovery cards(palmer's/aaron's/VS seeker)
Then the obvious Dialga G tech(DGX would be pointless....)for mirror/dumping him early so i can avoid the dreaded lost zone backfire tactic
It might just be a league deck but IMO there has to be SOMETHING that this Mew/Absol combo works with.

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! Getting ready for Battle Roads!

True, it does seem interesting, only time will tell. Anyways, did anyone get any good packs at PR's?

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! Getting ready for Battle Roads!

With mew/absol, you could run machamp and other specialty attacks. Isn't there a pokemon that does 120 if they have no retreat cost and one that hits evo'ed pokemon hard?

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! Getting ready for Battle Roads!

I think the first one you're talking about is Breloom. The other might be Machamp GL.

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! Getting ready for Battle Roads!

breloom is rotated.. so sad

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! Getting ready for Battle Roads!

It's not like it was going anywhere. Wasn't there a combo with another Breloom or Flygon? Something like that maybe...

Anyway, who's coming to Maine? I know at least 2 people in this group are going and I must meet you. The competition in Maine is lacking hard. (3rd place in a local tourney goes to Typloshion/Ampharos Prime or Magmortar/Tangrowth with a Water tech)

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! Getting ready for Battle Roads!

I'm going to Maine, but it doesn't seem like I can attend any of the Prereleases/tourneys there.

RE: The Storms ~ This format is ours! Getting ready for Battle Roads!

We only had one PR, which I wasn't able to go to. :( If you wanted to go anywhere competitive or popular, you'd go to Massachusetts or Rhode Island.
