Easily made it through Route 204 and headed for Oreburgh Gate. Not much happened honestly, though I beat one lass who apparently had the Oreburgh gym badge already.
On the way, Zui Quan and Utena both had chances to dream-smash random trainers and level up once or twice.
*Keeper has entered #OreburghGate.
<Zui Quan> Keeper.
*Zui Quan points.
<Zui Quan> Look.
<$WPM> I'm about to give you the HM Rock Smash!
<$WPM> Discuss!
*Keeper obtained HM Rock Smash.
<Keeper> ...Oh, right. It's an HM this gen.
<Keeper> Thanks WPM.
<Keeper> ...
<Keeper> ...WPM?
*Keeper has left #OreburghGate.
<$WPM> Sorry I was-
<$WPM> Oh.
Utena quickly smashed up the picnickers in the cave, letting us out the other side at last.
*Keeper has entered #OreburghCity.
Once I got outside, some youngster told me I needed a badge. Well no duh.
He led me to the gym, where Gistica was waiting.
(This youngster was going to be another cameo, but hey, I moved that member to a different spot.)
<Gistica> Keeper!
<Keeper> That's me.
<Gistica> K, you need a new pair of running shoes or something, you're SOOO slow.
<Keeper> You try writing and playing at the same time.
<Gistica> ...
<Gistica> After I defeated the Gym Leader, he went off into the mines.
<Gistica> Gotta go now, off to do... Something!
*Gistica has left #OreburghCity
First off, Route 207 provided me with plenty of training opportunities and a Machop for Rock Smashing later. Utena picked up Mega Drain here as well.
And, since I'll be coming back and did nothing else noteworthy here, I'll save the big intro for another time.
Eventually, we made it to the mines.
Or just stopped procrastinating, whatever.
*Keeper has entered #OreburghMine.
I let Utena take care of stray Geodude and Onix, switching to Zui Quan when facing Zubat or trainer's Machop. None of the workers in here were actually working, just relaxing and looking for battles. What a great use of time guys.
After our second trainer bout, Zui Quan evolved, so I guess they're good for something.
<Zui Quan> DUde.
<Zui Quan> I FeeL WeiRd.
*Keeper takes the bottle away from Zui Quan.
<Keeper> Just because the workers here have drinks and are slacking off doesn't mean you get to!
<Zui Quan> GiVE!
<Keeper> Nope. No drunken rage for you.
<Zui Quan> Toooo late for that. Learned Mach Punch.
<Zui Quan> Brb, wrecking Geodude face.
As much as I would have loved to keep grinding, I did have to call him back for safety reasons. A cave-in is not going to fit into the story-line very well.
Aside from that, I also picked up a handy-dandy Escape Rope. Because I'm too lazy to just walk back out.
The gym leader was also in here, taking his rage from his previous loss out on poor, defenseless, rocks.
<Keeper> ...May I interrupt?
<Yakkov> Wyanut?
<Keeper> I'm looking for a gym battle, are you supposed to be the gym leader?
<Yakkov> That's right, I am.
<Yakkov> But, of all types, I got stuck with Rock.
<Keeper> That's tough.
<Keeper> Being weak to all three starter pokémon?
<Yakkov> Yeah...
<Yakkov> Anyway, I'll be waiting at the gym.
*Yakkov has left #OreburghMine.
*Keeper used the Escape Rope!
*Keeper has left #OreburghMine.
A quick stop at the Pokémon Center and I was ready to take
Roark Yakkov down.
Once inside the gym, I met Trainerhan1 at the door.
<Trainerhan1> o/
<Keeper> \o
<Keeper> Haven't you already defeated Yakkov?
<Trainerhan1> Well, yes. But that's as part of the Kalos league.
<Trainerhan1> And, though you don't know, I actually just beat him here as well.
<Keeper> Ugh, now I really feel slow.
<Trainerhan1> I could offer some helpful tips if you'd like?
*Keeper mashes A button.
Unfortunately for the youngsters inside the gym, Zui Quan still hadn't calmed down. Parts of Geodude and Onix went flying. Fortunately nobody else got hurt (and those things can put themselves back together. Who knew?).
Yakkov was hiding in the back.
<Yakkov> Take that back.
<Yakkov> I'm not hiding. This is my spot.
Yakkov was
hiding waiting for me in his spot in the back.
<Keeper> !Challenge
<Yakkov> Welcome to the Oreburgh Gym!
<Yakkov> My name is Yakkov!
<Yakkov> I'm but one Trainer who decided to walk proudly with Rock-type Pokémon!
<Yakkov> As gym leader, I need to test your potential as a trainer.
<Yakkov> And, I'll need to see the toughness of the Pokémon that battle with you!
<Keeper> ...Way to read from the script.
<Keeper> Music!
vs
Utena uses Growth, and Geodude uses Stealth Rock. When Utena grows again, Geodude decides to use Rock Throw, but it misses.
<Utena> HEY! LISTEN!
<Utena> Traget with the L button!
<Geodude> Wrong game, dude.
Mega Drain then OHKO'd Geodude before it got another chance.
She then decided she had enough Growths behind her to stay in against Onix.
vs
Mega Drain OHKOs before it does anything. Looking really good so far.
vs
<Yakkov> Think you can take this one down like you did earlier?
<Keeper> Um... Yes?
Mega Drain OHKOs.
Budew sweep ftw.
Poor Yakkov though,
second third loss in a row. This time, to a baby pokémon.
<Yakkov> This is, like, worse then the Piplup sweep I faced earlier.
<Yakkov> But that's tough, you were strong and I was weak.
<Yakkov> Here is the Coal Badge, as proof you defeated me.
*Keeper has obtained the Coal Badge!
<Keeper> That's 1/8, ain't no stopping us now.
I left, though Yakkov also gave me TM Stealth Rock. I figured maybe I'd teach it to Zui Quan later, possibly when I transfer him to X after this run is done with.
I do hate backtracking, but I headed towards Oreburgh Gate again, mostly because I had no other choice. Of course, Gistica showed up and ran me over. Again.
<Gistica> Oh hey, Keeper!
<Gistica> Eterna City is the next place with a gym, right?
<Keeper> You would know if you had a map.
<Gistica> ...
<Gistica> That's where I'm heading next! Later!
*Gistica has left #OreburghCity
<Keeper> You know? He's not that fast in real life.
<Utena> lol
I promise to make Oreburgh Gate B1F quick.
Once inside Oreburgh Gate, I made my way to the back that was previously inaccessible.
I then found myself in Oreburgh Gate, B1F.
*Keeper has entered #OreburghGateB1F.
I picked up TM Flash first, after just having to smash a few rocks.
Then, over to the left a bit, I found a Big Pearl. That could come in handy later.
I can't explore much of the bottom floor without a Bike or Surf, but I'll take what I can get. Especially when it let me grind my team a bit more.
I try to enter Jublife City, but I see blargh running up to me first.
<blargh> Tell me, have you not obtained a Pal Pad?
<blargh> Is not a Pal Pad free to anyone visiting the Pokémon Center's basement?
<Keeper> Well, as I won't be doing any trading, I didn't see the need for it.
<blargh> Fair point.
<blargh> Anyway, there appears to be no one shady in this Jublife City.
<blargh> Therefore, I will take my investigation elsewhere.
<blargh> And I'm supposed to be attending a Cities in Floaroma anyway.
<Keeper> Gl, hf.
*blargh has left #JublifeCity.
I actually planned to take this chapter all the way to Floaroma Town, maybe we'll see how well blargh did at his tournament.
On my way out of town though, I came to the conclusion that blargh is blind in this game.
<???1> Hand over the papers please.
<???2> For free, naturally.
<???2> Failure to comply will result in a painful time for your assistant.
<%PMJ> lol, what could you do to me?
*Keeper stops eavesdropping.
<camoclone> Ah, Keeper! How do you like this WW game?
<camoclone> Rather realistic, isn't it?
<Keeper> Dude I don't even.
<%PMJ> He never did listen.
<camoclone> Ah, you got the "Oreburgh Gym Badge" item.
<camoclone> It allows you to use the ability "Rock Smash" whenever you'd like.
<Keeper> Thanks for the info.
<???1> Don't ignore us!
<???2> We are speaking to you on business. Because this is work for us.
<???1> What we're saying is, we demand that you give us those papers.
<camoclone> Oh, quiet you lot! Kecleon and Porygon, there's a punishment for bothering mods.
<camoclone> Let me give you some other lessons you obviously don't know.
<camoclone> 1: Don't loiter about for no good reason.
<camoclone> 2: Don't interrupt others while they are trying to converse.
<camoclone> 3: If you don't get your way, don't raise your voice to be intimidating.
<camoclone> 4: Don't think you've grown strong just because you're in a group.
<camoclone> 5: What is with those outlandish outfits you have on?
<camoclone> My goodness, what kind of WW players are you?
<Kecleon-X> Eeeeeh, you had to make this personal!
<Porygon-X> You forced our hand into making a show of force!
<Keeper> Ouch, dude. Tongue got twisted?
<%PMJ> Eh, let's defeat these guys together Keeper.
<%PMJ> It will be faster this way.
vs.
Like any smart player, Kecleon orders his Glameow to Fake Out Zui Quan, preventing me from using Mach Punch. Porygon's Stunky hits PMJ's Turtwig with Fury Swipes (three times), and forces PMJ into using Withdraw.
Now free to attack, Zui Quan goes all rage-monkey and OHKOs Glameow. Turtwig gets hit twice from Fury Swipes, but takes much less damage this time, thanks to Withdraw. Turtwig then retaliates with Tackle.
vs.
Zui Quan proceeds to KO Stunky with Mach Punch. gg scum.
*Kecleon-X has run from #JublifeCity.
*Porygon-X has run from #JublifeCity.
<camoclone> Well done! I knew these roles were well written!
<%PMJ> We won't bother with the rest of the script. Come on camo, back to the lab.
*PMJ has left #JublifeCity.
*camoclone has left #JublifeCity.
<Zui Quan> Ugh, my HEAD.
<Keeper> You'll get over it once we get to Floaroma Town.
<sillykyle> Hold up!
<Keeper> Eh?
<sillykyle> Splendid battling back there, I want to give you this!
*Keeper has obtained the Fashion Case.
<sillykyle> Dress up your pokémon and watch their appeal grow!
<sillykyle> I'll see you in Hearthome for contests I assume?
<Keeper> Well I wasn't planning on it, but maybe.
<sillykyle> Excellent! I'll be waiting!
*sillykyle has left #JublifeCity.
With fashion case in hand, I was ready to be done with Route 204 and get to Floaroma Town.
*Keeper has entered #RavangedPath.
Got the Potion near the entrance, then smashed the rocks to the left. The path there was blocked by a lake, but I was able to grab TM Rock Tomb before leaving. Didn't run into a single pokémon, I feel so happy.
*Keeper has entered #Route204 (finally).
On the top part of this Route was an Aroma Lady who led off with a Budew against Utena. As my attack (yes, attack. Utena's other moves besides Mega Drain are all status moves.) wouldn't be effective, I switched out to Zui Quan, who OHKO'd the thing.
I also defated a Bug Catcher and Twins before getting TM Bullet Seed and entering Floaroma Town.
/End Chapter
Oh, I decided to do this now. Mostly because I planned on doing it before, but forgot.
Utena Lv 18
Zui Quan Lv 16
