The Set Rotation Discussion Thread

^they know most people are sick of SP so why would they keep it for another year? that is 3 years of SP dominance....ya think about that. that would ruin the game for alot of people

I think we still wouldn't see a major upsurge of LostGar if HGSS-on happened. For some reason, it hasn't lived up to the hype... at all. It just doesn't seem to be as good as it's been made out to be.

Where's turbo fire (Reshiram/Ninetales HGSS/Ninetales UL) stand? I think for the lostgar matchup the stage 1 might be a better idea than trying to run Typhlosion Prime...not sure on that one but 4-2/2 ninetales line might work in a Reshiram deck to get loaded...

Lets just all be thankful that scizor prime is included in HGSS on
worst case, break up all current decks and build scizor

But I hope there is some SP, I haven't even got to use an SP deck yet, still trying to trade to get things (which are going to be rotated in a few months anyway YAY!)

I'm pretty sure they'll just stick to cutting four sets at a time, because it has moar customer satisfaciton.

wait...why is scizor our savior? lol its has a glaring weakness to anything fire.

Gardevoir Gallade got a 3 year stint, and I think people had as much vitriol for GG than they do for SP, if not more so.

What I'm hoping for next format is it to be RR-On. We would lose most of the major SP Tools, and we would keep Bebe's and other fun stuff. SV on would be good too, although we wouldlose Bebe's, we would get rid of Luxray permanently. I'm a little sad about Sableye being rotated, but its been in the format for a while. I suppose its time for him to go.

Just found this on Bulbapedia
" The Pokémon Company International is currently trying to start a season with 9 sets and end it with 13 sets."
This is why I think it'll be RR on. We have 12 legal sets right now by the way. Which I guess means with the release of Black and White (or the end of the season) we'll be cut to RR on, killing SP and slowing stage 2. Weird format comin' up.

Isn't RR on kinda random though? It makes sense, but we've ALWAYS gotten surprises. I mean, we've gotten no rotations before. Oh yea, and didn't most of you guys think 2010-2011 was gonna be PL on? Originally I thought that, but then I realized that it's always a surprise. It's not gonna be RR on, it's not going to be GS on either. Of the two, RR on seems more reasonable.

My best guess is PL on. I mean, with Catcher, Lux doesn't seem too hot anyway.

...The rotation doesn't happen until August. You have another 5 months to go before we lose Sableye. Go nuts.

So it would surprise you if it becomes RR-on, Tyraniking? I guess that's your answer...

RR-on does not surprise me: Japan seems to gain about one block on us every year - we fall an extra 6 months behind them every season. I'm sort of hoping we catch up, but I really don't know if RR-on would be that bad of a format. It might actually be pretty fun!

I think it's going to be SV-On if it's not HGSS-On(Which I am hoping for). The SP left are still relevent, being Cynthia and the FB's, both of whom are in the HGSS games(The TCG is dictated by the VGs), it removes the problematic SPs and gives a good 8( or 9) sets after Nationals. SV-BW(or BW2).

5 sets out is a good amount too.

If it's rr-on, cutting 4 sets like its being said too, then the next rotation after rr-on would be Unleashed-on?

Even with that, i think it will be RR-on but wouldn't be surprised if it were HGSS-on.

Ok heres a thought, when the black and white set comes out I think they will cut it to HGSS and on because Nintendo is starting to follow their Japanese counterparts, just look at the English black and white cards and you'll see what I mean. the other theory I have is that if they cut it to HGSS then it would really balance out the game and it would put everyone on an even playing field, no more top tier decks it would make the game easier for those who can't play the game as well to at least have a chance to feel whats its like to be on the top. (Ok my rant is over)

But why does our Modified format have to match with Japan's format? Is it because of Worlds or something? Either way I think HGSS-On would be okay but not that great. We lose alot of great Supporters and Pokemon along the way, not to mention the death of Charizard AR.

It will still get rid of SP as much as RR-On would, so really it won't make much of a difference on that regard however I think RR-On is the best choice regardless If Japan doesn't like it. It was bad enough nerfing the VGC's this year and it could be worse for the TCG If they stick with HGSS-On.

Black & White-On of course would kill the game.
