XY What Kind of New Gym Leaders and Champions Will There Be?

why not another multi-leader gym? like twins of 2 different types that you battle?
it could be like yin and yang

When I read this, I interpreted it as another double battle where one person uses one type and the other person uses another. That'd be cool.

I'd love it if they used a pair that complimented each other well.
The combo of an Electric/Flying and a Ground type would go so well here, and could utilise the DisQuake strategy.

Or something like a Grass move (that hits everyone on the field), with the Pokemon that doesn't have it have Herbivore or something.

Pokemon X and Y gym line up: BUG, ROCK, ELECTRIC, FIGHTING, FLYING, PSYCHIC, FIRE, FAIRY.

Possibly DARK instead of fighting.

On an unrelated note, I really hope the Champion isn't Professor Sycamore like the newest round of unfounded rumors says. Especially since we supposedly get to battle him periodically throughout the game. I want the Champion's lineup to be as much of a surprise as possible. Also, I don't want to meet the Champion frequently along my journey. It was totally obvious that Lance, Cynthia, Alder and Iris were going to be the Champions, and I find it sort of spoiled it. For me, the best Champion reveal was still Blue in Gen 1. I hope the Champ in this generation is one of your friends that you begin your journey with. Serena or Callum (depending on which one you didn't pick) or Trevor seem to be the obvious choices, so I hope its one of the friends you wouldn't expect, like Shauna, for example.

What you just said contradcits itself. You hope the champion isn't Sycamore because you get to battle him periodically, yet the biggest champion reveal was your rival who you battle periodically. Gamefreak seems to be turning Sycamore into another rival (like we need another) and as so, I don't see your problem. Personally I'm all for Sycamore as the champion. I think it would be the biggest surprize since Red and Blue.

They could do what they did with N and have him use random Pokemon up until that point and have him use random Pokemon from the area and his Champion team could be a mixture of different Pokemon.

Giovanni had to change his team as well seeing as he specialized in ground-types.

Actually, his team didn't change all that much throughout the game, his final team including many of the same Pokemon he used in earlier battles. I'm thinking more along the lines of completely different Pokemon every battle like N did.

On second thought, I realize that I didn't nuance what I meant very well. Blue is, in my opinion, the best Champion reveal because I didn't see it coming, and because he was so irritating, regardless of the fact that you fight him often. I enjoyed fighting him in the Champion battle so much because the battle meant something to me. Thus, if you fight Sycamore throughout the game, and he isn't a "rival" like your friends are, it becomes way too obvious, in my book, that he fills some special role (i.e. Champion). In short, there would be no veritable "wow factor" if he were Champion.

The second gym is fairy-type, according to the credible source, right? So, could Lumiose City possible be the site of this gym? The gym there is in the Eiffel Tower-esque building according to the trailer showing off the city so that seems like a great place for a fairy-type gym.

Since a few Gyms were already revealed, my wants for these folks won't happen but...

Something I really wanted is that GLs and the E4 didn't use teams based on types, but rather, on Pokémon that were based in the same species of animal, or object or whatever. Like, a Gym Leader that had only canine Pokémon (Manectric, Houndoom, Stoutland, Granbull...), an E4 member that had only 'swordmen' Pokémon (Scyther, Samurott, Farfetch'd lol, Gallade...) or a Champion that had all Royal Pokémon (Nidoking/queen, Serperior, Empoleon, Slowking...). It would help to balance the challenge issues we have right now. It's far to easy to pick a mon with Giga Drain and overwhelm Clay, or something like that.

That reminds me of a cool idea I heard somewhere.
The E4 are based on stats.
One would use Atk, one Sp.A, one Speed and the other would be Defense (possibly HP to some extent).

I would really like something like this to happen.

I would love a Pokémon League like the one in the anime and the PWT (but where you can choose Pokémon for each specific match) in BW2... That would be fantastic.

Perhaps sycamore could be hinted to be the champion during the game, but when you reach the champion's quarters you find some other recurring character, and, finishing the fight, one of the phrases he uses is: "serena/callum, I... am your father". After winning, your mother and sycamore come and explain everything to you. In the post game, you can fight your father in your house, and you become the champion.

Or maybe it could be... YOUR EVIL TWIN... (dun dun dun...)
No, just kidding in this one. The first one is legit, though.

But I agree with the E4 and the gym leaders having more character development and importance in the story. They are supposed to be the greatest badasses but when a freaking huge castle comes out of the sand and basically assaults the league the gym leaders magically appear and proceed to kick ass while the E4 just stay there, writing/being dapper/sleeping/flexing or whatever. How sure are we that they're not plasma sympathizers?.
But that was the true climax of B/W: being with alder, then cue kickass music, then the sages think they are hot shit but the gym leaders come en masse and buy you time to go face N and the legendary pokemon. The best moment of any pokemon game's story ever, and I hope GF step up and do something even more awesome this time.

I actually put genuine effort into trying to read that last bit

Hehe, sorry, I can never remember the spoilers code, you are supposed to highlight it.

Gym Leader Speculation

So with the release of Pokémon X&Y only 2 months away (exactly), we've been treated to a few gym leaders. So far we have Viola, Grant, Clemont, and Korrina. What do you think their specialties will be? What number gym do you think they are? What type of badges will we be seeing, BW style or back to the basics?

On the note of badges, if we look at these pictures we can see a symbol behind the leader.

It seems as though the images behind the gym leader is most likely the badge and help depict what type of Pokémon he or she will use, For example, behind Korrina, is obviously a punching glove. This makes me think that, based on this an the style of clothing that she is wearing, she specializes in Fighting-Type Pokémon.

So what do you think?

The specialties are pretty obvious from the badge design, Clemont is Electric, Grant is Rock, and Korrina is Fighting.

On that note, I'm going to guess what some of the rosters will be like:

Viola (confirmed 1st):
(past gen Bug) Lv. 13
Vivillon Lv. 15

Clemont (not sure where he'd go exactly, probably 3rd or 5th):
Dedenne/Dedenne evolution
Pikachu/Raichu
Helioptile evolution

Korrina (given her location in the game and the rumor WPM received, 4th is a strong possibility for her):
Pancham Lv. 35
Mienfoo Lv. 35
MegaLucario Lv. 37

Grant (I'm thinking late game in Mountain Kalos):
(6th gen Rock type) Lv. 40
Rhydon Lv. 40
(6th gen Rock type) Lv. 42

To me, it's pretty obvious which type the new Gym Leaders specialized in;
Viola-Bug
Clemont-Unfortunately Electric. (I want an E4 Electric type user..)
Grant-Rock
Korrina-Obviously Fighting. (She's very tomboyish and her design reminds me of roller derby)

So we've got four more gyms to go...

Yeah, those symbols behind the leaders could definitely be the badges. Although Clemont's looks just a bit over-detailed.

As for what gyms I want....

1. Dark type gym, why not. Almost EVERYBODY wants one, and it's about high time they add one.
2. Flying type gym. Maybe there could be an option where you could only Sky Battle her/him, and you'd get an extra reward.
3. Psychic? Haven't seen a Psychic gym, plus it'd be definitely be interesting in many ways. Puzzles and whatnot.
4. Grass type. We really need a powerful grass type gym with giant trees, or majestic leaves and flowers everywhere.
