Inactivity and the source of it.

RE: Inactivity.

It's a good idea of making a newbie forum but we have to make sure that the newbies will read it or there will be no difference between SN's FAQ & the newbie forum...

hmmmm, why is pokegym not having our problem? let me see

1, pokegym sounds cooler and more mature, so, noobs would probably choose to join the sounds-more-friendlier pokebeach

2. Pokebeach is like a primary school for noobs. when they get older, they become better. later they continue to 'study' on pokegym. So, with the pros going to gym, obviously u will see a lot of noobs.

3. Pokegym has a lot of intelligent threads, which, noobs cant really understand and there's little noob count there, makes them feel uncomfortable and that stops them to post (to avoid getting humiliated)

Just stop your yaps on Pokegym. If you like it so much then just leave PokéBeach Forums and go there! Sorry for yelling okay, it's because I like PokéBeach Forums.

Pokegym is a more official site then Pokebeach is. I'm going to be assuming that they pay decent money to have their website up as it is, it's a lot more structured and updates very regularly. Pokegym has many more professional things relating to their website mainly because it is run by the Compendium team. Due to this reason a LOT more Professors are on the board, as well as non-Professors too, than on Pokebeach. If I had to ask how many people on Pokebeach were actually Professors I doubt i'd get any decent number compared to if I asked on Pokegym. Since there is now the age restriction on when people can take the Professor test (you need to be 18+ to become a Professor now) it means that there are a lot more threads of serious discussion on Pokegym and not on here because Pokebeach lacks Professors.

That's probably the major difference between Pokebeach and Pokegym.

Actually I think pokebeach sounds better. Gym is a place where you exercise a lot, get knackered, and have all those big muscly Swedish guys laughing at you for being such a weakling. A beach is where you come to relax and pick up chicks. Go figure.

About the newbie forum. It... won't work. As stated before, the chance of anyone new bothering to use it wisely is very slim indeed. Unless it was the only place they could post for a day but bleh, I don't see that ever working.

And if noobs would start posting there, it'd become a place where noobs learn from noobs, and we'd just be training noobs.

As for gym vs beach as a name, honestly, beach is way more original and less familiar, beaches don't have a main part in any Pokémon-related something, you have to beat gyms in the games. So I honestly think beach sounds more mature. But, yes, the amount of professors and the site being more official and purley TCG-based makes it attract more expert people...

yes, this inactivity that u ppl r disccusing has grown over the past 4 months , and it seems to tie into the extremly high number of noobs.

a good solution to the high rate of noobish spam, would be if wpm could somehow get Senor Noobnerd's FAQ to apper to every noob before they officially register tthemselves.

It's a thread. Impossible.

Pokebeach may be less professional, but, as its name suggests, a more...easy place to be in. The people here are friendlier and funnier. E.g. Bacon and cute-mew :F.

What I'm wondering, is why are all these n00bs suddenly joining?

I know that when WPM announced the openning of the Pokebeach Wifi league that many people started joining, as that is what compelled me to join. But now, WPM isn't advertising that anymore, yet still many, many more members join each day.....

I think these young kids are just starting to learn about it now since it's summertime. Remember, when WPM originally advertised it, it was early April. It was late May through now when the problem has arisen.

I see your point cute-mew. The n00bs would learn from n00bs, which would just craete a bigger problem for us. Anyway, as much as there are n00bs joining here, I've found that there have been several people who have joined that can actually battle decently. Who knows, maybe it's a sign of things to come.

What's with everyone talking in the third person? :p

IMO, as a website, PokeBeach > PokeGym by far. As a forum, however, the opposite is true.

Our forum is still quite new compared to the Gym - it's barely 1.5 years old. The PokeGym is probably sevenish or eightish. That's a long time in internet time. I'll wait until we're fourish to worry about the people of this forum still being n00bish.

Ish.

Wow, WPM finally found this thread :)

yeah, forum age can matter, I can imagine all the noobs getting better at, well, everything, and after a while they'd outnumber the noobs. Maybe we ought to give the forums more time :)

Well, the situation isn't that bad now.

But just in case the situation gets worse, do you think we'll need more moderators, or what we have now is fine? :F

well, we'll have to make " welcome-to-tcg" threads anyway. If u looked at tcg discussion, it's like WOW! im getting bombarded by "old player returning to game" threads!

we obviously need to make good threads for the noobs to read (and BTW, saves our time typing the same ol stuffs in literally every threads.) Make it sticky .

That still doesn't change the fact that they will read it, bottom line. Have you been reading anything anyone has said here?

Shawn out.

Did you say chicks? *Goes to room and take swimming pants* Let's go to the beach. Lol. I guess we have to agree with that (both first and second paragraph).

Looking at all your posts, I guess we have no choice but to be tolerant and let the moderators handle everything.

Well, all we can do is to report, since mini-modding is a strict no-no. And how often are moderators online? Not all the time.

I'm happy to see the locking of all (most) of the spam threads in the Wi-Fi League. That really set an example for new members.

Yes, mini-modding is a big no-no. Even though we've stressed it so much it STILL doesn't stop veterans to Pokebeach doing it, they blatantly mini-mod. As for how often we're online, I would say that we're online enough of the time. I'm normally on a few times a day and do a little patrolling when i'm here, plus the other mods are also online at their different times of the day. Time zones do play a part in it though. Most of the mods/supermods are from the USA which means that i'm the only one who is online during their night time, since that's my day, but we handle it just fine.
